Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Would our view be the same if Russia attacked Finland though (non members)?

The evidence so far in Ukraine suggests that Putin's Russia isn't particularly good at attacking things. Even if he's eventually successful, his army is going to be bogged down there for years to come keeping a lid on the Ukrainian people.

Putin has also clearly shit his pants over the sanctions, and simply won't be able to pay for another war. It's unfortunate for the people of Ukraine right now, but the Western allies are doing the right thing for European peace in the long term.

It's like having to choose between a dog shit stottie and a cat shit stottie, both disgusting options tbh.

Im sure with some thought there's a way to find a middle option, I don't know, insist that NATO and or the UN are going into Ukraine on a given date to rescue civilians and provide aid and an attack on this force would be considered and act of war. Putin would back down, but we have weak statesman in the West who don't have the balls to help the people being murdered.

He already is apparently. Fiona Hill said he doesn’t eat or drink anything when she has been at dinners with him presumably as he is paranoid about poisoning. Someone said he has refused to have the Russian Covid vaccine hence why people sit 5 meters from him on the long tables. And there is quite clearly tension with his inner circle and cabinet which is telling from the footage Russia released.

He may have one or two very close allies, Lavrov seems to be one. Medvedev maybe but there is the history with the flipping of the presidential role
The story is that he moves his allies around a lot, so that no one ever gets close enough to be next in line

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Russia has 6000 nukes, USA 5500, France and UK combined, 600. Why the big worry ?
It's not like NATO has got 100/200 to Russia 6000, and NATO certainly isn't a poor relation to Russia in terms of nukes.
Because it will likely start a nuclear war

West needs to play on his paranoia

Good time for west to take Kaliningrad and Belarus and chase the twat back to Vladivostok unless he’s already topped himself in his bunker

But are these cutting edge nukes

Unless trump forgot to give Biden the codes and Biden forgot to ask for them

I hope you are correct, but even if he fails in the longer term, he will have destroyed much of Ukraine. At the very least, I can see no way he will hand back Crimea and Dombas etc.

'That Chinese writer Sun Tzi' 🤣

You post like you're an informed intellectual, and this is exactly the issue with social media, you know fuck all.

His name was Sun Tzu, Chinese General who wrote the Bible for warfare.
It was napoleon who said that

Bloody armchair generals
He hasn't got the resources to do anything.

Intel from Finland shows that bases near the border that had good quality forces in have been replaced by kids. Good troops are either in Russia intimidating Russians or in Ukraine.

That's my point. That Chinese writer Sun Tzi (?) said "never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake".

They're f***ing it up. Yes it's awful in Ukraine but escalation helps them not one bit. They might even get nuked.
Napoleon said that

Mate- what I said *is happening*. That's a fact.

Now I didn't say the country was rife with corruption or the like. Not once. I said corruption is corruption. I was very specific in what I said. But its telling you can't respond with a straight answer to what I did say and have to reach for something else.

So park your hyperbole and angry incontinence and respond to what I've written, if you're capable.

There's two ways of looking at justice

One is that X is wrong, and must be called as such wherever it arises.

The other is that X is wrong but not as bad as Y or Z, so be thankful it's not one of them.

You're arguing for the former in the case of Putin

You're arguing for the latter in relation to the West.

So which is it?

What you said *isn’t happening*.

You still have a right to protest in this country. About anything you want to.

And there isn’t a single U.K. citizen who doesn’t have the right to vote, or whose right to vote is threatened.

You’re trying to frame things as something they’re not. To suit your weird, warped, anti-U.K. agenda; and you’ve got the brass neck to tell me about “hyperbole” whilst you do it.

Ten countries are independently observed to be less corrupt and free than the U.K. one hundred and sixty none less so. That’s the real world position, and it’ll do for me. I can’t, however, make you take off your tin foil hat and join me. More’s the pity.

Read up on it please. Ignorant fucker.

Finnish air force did have a few German planes (and UK, French & American) but then FOUGHT Germany.

Finland fought both Russia and Germany.

What a twat.
Finish did well, a fair few snipers froze to death at their posts. Grim photos.

But the issue isn't basic "corruption". The issue is "Russia".

That list will be all sorts of stuff like "my brother gets a good job" etc.

I bet UK is lower than 10th in a list of "countries where MPs take money FROM Russia".

What do you mean by “take money fro Russia”?

It’s illegal in the U.K. to take any policial donation from any person who isn’t entitled to vote in U.K. elections. Similarly, it’s illegal not to publicly declare any such donation. And as I’ve said - I’m not aware of any alleged breaches of those rules. Are you?

And if you’re not - how can we possibly class something done within a strict and transparent public, legal framework as “corrupt”?!
