Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

My born and bred Kyiv wife had a row with her friend (Kyiv raised with Russian parent and married to a Russian and they live in Manchester). They're supporting Russia despite living here 20 years and he started shouting at my wife over the phone after he intervened after both our wives started rowing.

My wife told him that if he didn't watch his tongue she send me to Manchester to batter fuck out of him, I've never even met the guy.

Yer missus will end up getting you knacked off a git big Russian. 😂

Its a strange rule to not be “political” on a thread like this because a) war is political and b) “political” is subjective.

It’s odd the government do this. They could say, “we are a sovereign nation and so need to move at a different pace but we are working on it” but they seemingly can’t. It always has to be “world beating” which makes the phrase utterly meaningless and makes the next time they use it utterly unbelievable
I couldn’t agree more, I’m not sure sometimes, how you can separate the two. And our government are telling us how quickly they are doing things, while the evidence suggests they aren’t.
And “world beating” is what they use about everything.

The Balkans could easily turn into the next flash point. Not that they’ll need it with some of the nasty elements in the countries, but I bet the Russian psyops machine is in full flow.
Saw a report a few weeks back that they are close to warring again anyway there.

You created this thread 89 days ago mate. A lot has changed, granted but it was clear then what he was about to do
A lot of companies have changed stance in the last 24 hours even, Microsoft just today for example. A lynching for a statement (a minority subsidiary as well, they only own 22% of them) from 10 days ago is mental. Pepsi haven’t said anything at all have they?

Anyone else think the Americans aren't quite doing enough here. Energy self-sufficient and largely food self-sufficient and won't be affected by the huge displacement of people. Reluctant to deploy troops after Afghanistan I just wonder whether they see this as more of a European problem. I think Biden has come across as weak in all this too.

You sure about that? They’re contributing a LOT in terms of transportation and intelligence (probably more important than anything else) and as I understand it they’re coordinating the effort of getting weapons into Ukraine to help the defence cause.

The point being is you can hardly blame a few thousand Serbs for coming out as pro Russia and for all we know a good percentage of them may well be Russian anyway while we in the west support our allegiance with America who go into the likes of iraq just the same as Russia have for their own ends. That’s in no way mitigating the actions of Russia but I don’t think a whole nation should be judged on a 20 second clip on Twitter.

Not judging them by that clip. Serbs love Russia. They share the same culture and religion Russia was their biggest and just about only supporter during the Balkans conflict, of course they would support Russia.

Sorry if SEB.
Conscripts ffs.
Jesus Christ man 😱😪 that's all the young lad cannon fodder he sent in initially FFS.
Anyone just seen Stuart Ramsey's new report on Sky News? Him and his team have come under fire from the Russians. Some of them were hit in their protective vests and had to escape from their car and flee. Lucky to be alive. Amazing report but so scary.
God that's horrific, the cowardly bastards doing that to the press FFS 😪

This is a brilliant post mate, and absolutely spot on. Putin should be rightly admonished and pressure should be continually applied on him, but there should also be a focus on how the west engineered regime change in Ukraine.
Joe Biden who was then Vice President had his dirty mitts all over it, the US state department spent 5 billion dollars 'influencing' Ukrainian politicians and companies.
And while these politicians try to shape the world how they want it, the poeple who always suffer are innocent civilians.

Yep. Putin deserves admonishing, perhaps even a stern telling off? Or is that a bit OTT?

You couldn't make up some of the shit that gets posted on here

From what I’ve read on here you like reading up on your history, check them out.

Serious question. Reckon the UK would vote Brexit at the min?

Seems that decision was taken after a period of total stability. Ignore the brexit shambles but... Given united scenes in Europe with welcoming refugees & that an independent country has been picked off, reckon UK would still be 51% leave?

The UK wouldn’t have been 51% leave a week before this war. Nevermind now.

I suspect all they have is ropey gear. Hard to tell if its true, but I've seen posts in Ukraine that are meant to be Russian army rations. They were 5 years past their expiry. The tyres on the tanks are cheap Chinese knock offs and apparently are really shite.
There's a bloke on twitter convinced a lot of the problems with Russian trucks and the like are down to a lack of maintenance. Tyres and wheel hubs failing cos the gear has been sat doing nowt for years.
