I'm quite clearly not pro war and quite clear not in support of Ukraine being pushed over or annexed.

Distinguishable difference between being pro-Russia and acknowledging global geopolitical forces at work.

There are some airlines that do this intentionally with specific subfleets even absent sanctions (Delta did it with the MD-80 and 717 family, for example).

People don't seem to glean yet that we've just turned back the clock 40 years in many respects.

yep - cannabilising the fleet could keep them going for years

(i know its not airliners so not totally apples to apples but Iran have managed to keep their F14's flying now for over 40years without access to western spare parts)

and lets be honest - flying on planes made up of bits of other planes would probably add to the authentic Russian airline experience

Nothing surprises me with them. I started to take an real interest around the times of the apartment block bombings and the second war with Chechnya. Vlad is the f***ing Devil mate.

seen a travel show years ago the presenter told a tale about when he flew to Siberia. he asked the stewardess what's for lunch, there's no food served on this flight, he smelled something nice coming from the back of the plane so walked down to investigate,there was a bloke cooking soup on a oil primus stove on a spare seat

A lot on this messageboard and across the world need to read this slowly and carefully, maybe then we can show the support and unity needed from ordinary people to send the message that the enemy isn’t ordinary people, it’s the ruling powers that are the problem, not just in Russia, Belarus or anywhere else dictators rule….

That Fiona Hill interview is excellent and well worth reading. Her background is everything relevant for this. Shes a doctor in Russian history. Has been US advisor on Russia under various Presidents including Trump and had been in the room with Putin during presidential discussions.

Learnt far more in 15 minutes reading that then any of the other things knocking around. She talks about his motivations, personality and what he might do next.

It’s not overly dramatic but alarming

It is quite similar on some ways. The invasion that is. Massive amount of inexperienced conscripts sent into another part of Russia who then get their arses handed to them. Russia then sends in more experienced troops and heavier weapons.

Hopefully the ending is a bit different this time.

It's a difficult one with regard to China and how they would Side. I have no doubt that they see Russia as a companion. They are similar, both don't like the west and it's culture and they could easily control Russia if the west were no longer a big player.

I think and hope that the way the west has completely united may have took both countries by surprise. China love money more than war, at least for now. I'm not so sure that they would completely back Russia.

America are still the big dogs and that isn't changing yet.

I don't think China is an a position to make a move, for now anyway.

The west needs to come out if this stronger.

I was on the fence over Brexit, wasn't really fussed either way at the time however, I would be against making soundwaves and moves to re-entry, show of support and a message to how this war has brought us all together.

Unless Putin totally takes Ukraine, I think the west has gained a strong ally interns of people and resources, because there is no way Ukraine will look easy after this.

Ukraine can be neutral and in NATO. It is a defence treaty organisation, nothing more.

As for the bit in bold: NATO exists to deter aggressors from invading or attacking NATO members. The fact that Putin has invaded Ukraine shows 100% the logical reason why Ukraine and others who border Russia would want to join NATO.

Anyway, not sure why you keep posting the same guff and propaganda about the past. This thread is about the here and now and the future.

It looks horrific for those in Ukrainian cities but their resolve not to give in to the invading tyrant is commendable.
