I'd like to think people of the UK would be the same if we were in the same situation location wise as the Germans. Our government might act differently but I'd hope the people would act the same.

What Germany and the rest of Europe (all of us) really need to do if cut the gas purchasing off, for all the good work we do if we are giving Russia hundreds of millions a week then this won't ever stop.

Daring the West to either appease him or challenge him.

Realistically I’m not sure what we gain by the former. If he wants to manufacture a reason to use them regardless he will, or just do it anyway.. If he isn’t intent on doing so and it’s all bluff then we should stick to redlines or else he takes what he wants.

The government happened to end the restrictions around the same time, so are now not really talking abut it and the media only have so much capacity to tell news and the invasion of Ukraine feels more pressing/important to most people right now, I would think

The Germans reaction to the refugees is just brilliant. People greeting them at stations; food, drink, clothes and toys for the kids given out; even the train companies have made it free for refugees to travel. Puts us to shame

Headed down to Berlin Hauptbahnhof this morning to help out, it’s really nice to see so many helping. It’s my day off today so it’s the least I can do. The city officials have struggled to organise things for themselves so the volunteer groups have taken charge. The official refugee centre is already full, so we need help from other German states as most are arriving by train in Berlin. There’s tonnes of people signed up to a website offering rooms and beds, bringing a tear to my eyes seeing the solidarity towards fellow human beings. Ukrainians hugging Germans like they’re family as they’re so grateful to be alive and safe. It gives me hope tbh.

All part of the plan. Flood Europe with 20m plus refugees, incorporate Ukraine as part of greater Russia and at some stage rebuild the cities and infrastructure they've destroyed. Have a look at what he did to Grozny and look at pictures of it today. Win/win for Putin, he puts huge pressure on the West, and I've got no doubt the oil and gas will be turned off shortly, while wiping Ukraine off the map.

NATO is a defensive force for the countries in it. Unless one of them are directly attacked they won’t intervene. Obviously fear comes in to it, but mostly it’s following the contract that each country signed.

Whether Ukraine should have been allowed emergency membership before Russia attacked is another story. Too late now though.
