They will operate domestically, and they will use the majority of some fleets as parts donors to keep the rest of them flying. No shortage of A320 engines if you have three of the fuckers grounded for every one of them you're flying.

There are some airlines that do this intentionally with specific subfleets even absent sanctions (Delta did it with the MD-80 and 717 family, for example).

People don't seem to glean yet that we've just turned back the clock 40 years in many respects.

A tear in my eye seeing those good folks saying how many rooms they have free to take folks in on the news there.

I can't believe this is happening in Europe in 2022.

The scenes in Berlin, thousands of Germans offering rooms to Ukrainians.

Class. The Germans*, a great bunch of lads.

*In the modern era anyway :o

Seriously?

Aye. As soon as it started they started blaming Ukraine saying Russia only invaded because Ukriane killed 14k Russians over the last 8 years or something. Says its all Western media reporting false newsand Ukraine are doing it to themselves to make Russia look bad.

Tbh I think certain Russian news channelsnare saying the same thing so they are probably getting it from there but they won't have it any other way.

Unless someone bumps Putin off, the only thing that can stop this is to stop buying oil and gas from the Russians. That would completely cripple them economically. The key is China, who are the only export market big enough to keep Russia afloat if the entire West or most of it shuts them off.
Here you go.

germany should reduce volume by 50% for a few weeks , then say it goes to 0% unless meet / negotiate demands.
Think I read the US could supply a lot of LPG which could backfill

My Russian friend just seen... I will reply but anyone want to give me a good templet of what to say...

Why is Putin invading Ukraine....

That I don't know. We are as shocked as everyone else

The US can supply a lot, but not in the immediate term. The LNG export infrastructure doesn't have that much spare capacity, nor does Germany have the ship-to-shore import capacity. Large-scale LNG shipment by water is not something you can just stand up overnight.

perfect time of Year to start reducing volume used--hopefully new sources of it sorted by next Winter.
Ruskies wont take kindly to the squeeze on their finances, consumables choices shrinking and losing Holidays abroad!

According to Newsnight the Chinese don’t have enough pipeline access. Also, they are hedging their bets as to how much support they give to Putin, the American market is far more important to them
They don't need pipelines. They can take it on ships, just as they take their imports now. Which much of Europe can't do in the requisite quantities.

The political aspect is the deciding factor with China.

It's staggering how Europe let themselves become so reliant on Russian energy. The stuff going on now has been on the cards for a fair few years so really should have cut down on that reliance.
Saudi oil too.
Its enabled these countries to be as mental as they want

Putin starting this war just as spring arrives is an interesting choice of time of year. Summer's better for armies of course, but there again one of the criticisms of Scargill's tactics re the miners' strike was that he started it in March
