China have bought/rented a huge chunk of Ukraine agricultural and farming land too, something like 5% of the land mass. Wonder if that’s influenced their stance on Russia much?

Don't want to get into a spat, and spoil the thread, but they have targeted residential areas in all the major cities, and show no sign of stopping. All of the major news agencies are reporting civilian casualties, and you would have to blind not to have seen it. Have you not seen the apartment blocks hit by missiles?
Think it’s stuff like this that we should be taking notice of when talking about the invasion.
Re the 40m people…how many are elderly, children, women, disabled,etc, etc.

Basically the above article isn't totally pro-Ukraine and people won't give it the time of day.
Meanwhile Ukraine propaganda are grossly exaggerating their successes, the number given by their MoD are even treble that of US estimates and wildly out of sync with Russian statistics as you'd expect.

I suppose it’s only murder if they are specifically targeting civilians. Plenty of civilians killed in pretty much every conflict and by pretty much every army involved including our own. There does seem to have been at least some war crimes which look like deliberate killings though. Ukraine may well feel justified in a brutal response but it’s certainly not a good thing and probably not something it’s wise to declare publicly.

There is a distinguishable difference between 'systematically' murdering civilians and civilians dying in a conflict.
Ukrainian rocket have hit apartment buildings whilst attempting to shoot things down. It's unfortunate and unavoidable.
Did NATO target civilians in Yugoslavia?

BUT, there have been several intentional attacks on high civilian occupancy, non-military buildings.
So what would you describe that as?

The truth will be somewhere in the middle I expect.
Ukraine is surpassing expectations, no doubt on that at all, how long they can hang on is another matter, drone strikes will make a big difference as more drones are supplied.
Best Ukraine can do is play for time I feel and hope internal pressures hit Putin hard and force him to the table.
