A lot of people here getting quite bullish on Ukraine's chances (they're doing brilliant so far) but here's a good thread from the Russian "intellectual" side which is rather a depressing read.

Are people really? There’s a lot of amazement at how well they’re fighting, but the odds and slow crept of the war are in Russia’s favour, sadly

Have Lithuania imposed a no fly zone? I wonder how aircraft can get from Kaliningrad back to mainland Russia if they have.
Police scared of a 90 year old.Bunch of c*nts.
Imagine being that much of a coward

Nice video to see them in action.

Be interesting to see what happens if Putin does take military control of Kyiv and put in a puppet government.

I hope the West will continue with these but it could get more difficult politically depending on how much success Russia makes overtime. Spain also contributed

China stuff you say is fascinating and not something I've come across before. Any decent books / docs / videos on this you'd recommend?
Michael Wood's recent book is a good overview.

I did a course on it at Uni around 2006 but that was mainly in relation to how it responded to Europe in age of expansion and colonialism, v much China at its least confident

But for the reasons I say its probably biggest topic in History, imagine ancient Egypt, then Rome, then the entirety of European history since AD 0, in one geographical and cultural centre- that's what it is.

What damage could Microsoft do to Russia? If they wanted.

Tons. Most of their systems will run on Oracle, SAP and Microsoft. Other technology will use AWS etc…

No impact to desktop computers with standard office stuff on obviously. But anything cloud based they could switch off in theory which would majorly impact Russian businesses ability to operate
