Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

What's your definition of him winning? He won't take and retain control of Ukraine forever. No chance. The Russians simply don't have the resource.
He’ll try to turn Ukraine into a second Belarus. It’s working pretty well for him in the original Belarus.

This is going to take some time. He’s not giving up tomorrow. One feature of the Russian psyche is patience: tomorrow, tomorrow, always tomorrow.

A lot of people here getting quite bullish on Ukraine's chances (they're doing brilliant so far) but here's a good thread from the Russian "intellectual" side which is rather a depressing read.

I don't think people are, Russia has an almost inexhaustible amount of cannon fodder. The Ukrainians are going to have to be in this for the long haul.
Unless Putin is removed it will develop into a war attrition.

It will become another Afghanistan or the Russian Vietnam. You see when you have no where to run or hide you have to stand and fight.

Didn't expect him to give up tbf. They have simply picked a fight they ultimately cannot win.

100% this. He will get more and more unhinged and try more things like this as he realises his time is up. Worrying
Some expert on radio tonight saying he’s been pushing things for a few years perhaps trying to provoke a reaction

Correct. It'll be years trying to keep a lid on things. That's going to cost him a fortune. A fortune he doesn't have in reality.

For an intellectual, he isn't very good at counting.

Also while he may have captured the mood in Russia, I don't think he has read the mood elsewhere.

The opposition in Belarus was political they were just cracked on head and locked up, the difference in Ukraine is the opposition are armed ruthless and desperate. This will become more like Vietnam than Belarus

Bollocks. He's been dipping his toe to see if there'd be a reaction. A reaction he doesn't want, but now probably doesn't expect. One things for sure, he won't be lobbing nukes about.

Missed off spreading polonium 210 over half of Mayfair…

The putin won’t argument should be be an argument, he was so he can…

Is anyone else wondering what the fuck the story is with this Russian 40 mile convoy?

Why is it taking ages?
Why haven’t the first few vehicles been blown up as if they were it would be a 40mile traffic jam?

Obviously the big lads and the welcome party is in Kiev but I wonder why those Turkish drones could have picked off the first mile of them which would render the whole supply line pointless.

I was reading that the drones can be controlled from anywhere on the planet so we could effectively have a CIA Agent in Langley sat rendering that convoy useless From his joystick.
We would joke around that people earned the same medal as us in Afghanistan while they sat at a base in San Diego flying drones.

They’re armed for now. I said he’d try, not that he’d necessarily succeed.
