R.I.P. to all of those murdered by Putin’s dogs for the crime of being Ukrainian. 2000 killed in less than a week (almost certainly higher). This, along with Zelenskyy’s comments about Russians having instructions to “wipe out us all”, shows that we may be starting to head towards genocide now.

This is the scary bit and that the population are just seen as collateral damage now. It’s as though the Russians have said you’ve had your chance to surrender and you’ve chosen not to, so now feel our might.

Here is the statement

And a really interesting article

I actually think that’s spot on. I think the Russian players should be allowed to continue playing and I hope they get the support and protection they need from abusers.

I appreciate this is potential hypocrisy given my feelings on the Paralympians for example and also my views on national teams in the same sport of Ice Hockey but that is where we are

I responded to the bit I thought was most important.

Look, I’m sure you’ll agree with me that politics is inextricably linked to this conflict. As a result, it is impossible not to talk politcs on this thread.

However, ask yourself why only certain things are being pulled up? @Northumberland Rocks alluded to it, anyone who’s ever visited the Politics sub-forum will attest that it’s practically the same apologists of a particular brand of politics that are getting upset now.

I didn’t see anyone taking the piss out of Joe Biden earlier being told to ‘leave politics out of it’.

Nor those taking the piss out of Diane Abbott.

@anitdontmajanow posted a list earlier of companies’ response to the war and their restrictions/sanctions of Russia.

Russia invading Ukraine)

It was a very interesting post and several people have responded positively to it.

So why therefore is it a problem when a number of us ask questions of what our government are doing on the same subject? Of why they aren’t doing more - like these global firms, like other countries in the West. Like the EU?

Why therefore is it a problem that some of us question the morals and the ‘impartiality’ of the party of government given their obvious links to Putin and prominent members in the Kremlin?

This shit is important mate and no amount of crying from right wing apologists is going to alter that undeniable fact.

This is NOT a both sides are at it argument. It’s only one side getting their knickers in a twist.
As a general point I understand fine well why the tory apologists would like to keep some of the domestic stuff out of the spotlight given the dubious money that has come into the tory party from Russian sources.

understand what your saying , its when the debate turns into the tit for tat that helps no one, its not me saying this but the other day the mods came onto this thread asked for it to stop and moved the thread, I feel that was what Harry was making the point about.

going to leave it there mate, if you dont mind, as I am doing the same thing we should avoid, sliding off topic, this thread is too important imo, I have learnt a canny bit reading the subject and kept up to date with news here, like many others I expect.

i do enjoy reading the politics of the war and have very strong views, its interesting reading, just dont like when it turns it to a mud slinging match between posters.
