Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Also worth noting one of Putins aims was to make NATO weaker. He's single handedly made them stronger with increased funding from member nations, and I would expect Finland and Swede join soon. He's absolutely fucked himself. I reckon a few of his military advisors will have "taken ill" and disappeared

I think the conversation about NATO being on Putin's mind is 1 of the myths which keeps popping up alongside Russian citizens starting a revolution.

It's just pure Soviet patriotism, a man who's clearly wanked himself blind over the the likes of Stalin during the pandemic, the whole craic about Ukraine and NATO is just a scapegoat, proof of that is when he inevitably takes over Moldova as the self-declared region of Transistria considers itself Russian, NATO isn't even part of the conversation when it comes to Moldova.
Lukashenko even admitted on Belarussian state TV that part of the plan is to invade Moldova

He knows NATO can't do shit about it, and thus has prompted neutral countries to think about joining alliances otherwise they could be next.

As I said: We have no right whatsoever to urge actions that will vaporise our children and grandchildren.

I think there are people who are still daft enough to believe that they, their children and grandchildren could escape the deadly effects of nuclear weapons.

After nuclear weapons are used their will be nothing left and the living will envy the dead.

You are a WW3 fan, then?
He really hasn’t. We’re seriously lagging behind the rest of the developed world by way of help for refugees.

And he’s still done fuckall to all the Russian billionaires in the country (and his party).

I meant it exclusively in the sense of avoiding any direct NATO-Russian clash.

On those other matters, I agree with you.

Given his record on everything else, is it not simply that ‘doing nothing’ is what comes naturally for him anyway?

It’s a low bar (a very very low bar) if you’re praising him because he hasn’t yet broken international law.

He’s an embarrassment, while all other serious politicians in Europe are stepping up and doing things that can help Ukraine, he’s using every opportunity to self congratulate. He used the term ‘world leading’ when speaking in Talinn yesterday in relation to what Britain had offered to the war effort. It was f*cking cringeworthy. He’s not appearing in a party political broadcast FFS. We’re on the brink of war and yet he’s still trying to brainwash his base.

I'll give Boris where it's due..... He's done the best he can considering the restraints.

I mean if we're comparing Britain to other major nations, France have yet to still send anything, Germany sent 3000 helmets, countries in Southern Europe have done fuck all, Turkey sent a batshit of weaponised drones, even Japan and Canada have done than the NATO countries in Europe have.

He's still a tosser though.

The main thing being is that nuclear weapons are never going to be used. Stop being taken in by Putin’s trap!

We also have the problem by not stepping in it could still escalate, it Finland etc join nato Russia have also threatened nuclear war.

It’s a long stretch to suggest that any conflict with NATO and Russia would automatically escalate to nuclear war anyway. In fact I think it’s highly highly unlikely that the number of variables needed would be met even if there was a direct conflict over for instance a Baltic state

Germany actually sent 5000 helmets, leading the way I’d say:lol:

A sad read in the Telegraph this morning about Russian soldiers being in complete disarray. Some are disobeying orders, whilst are simply just turning around and going back over the border.

It's easy to forget that most of those poor men are there and have no choice in the matter. They're victims as much as Ukrainians imo.

(The story is behind a paywall so not sure if I'm able to just copy and paste on here for people to read?)
