An adviser to the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister has just been on Newsnight saying that a number of villages and towns have been wiped out.

It’s a depressing situation.

Crazy. Either that's the bluff of the century or he's just disclosed Putins plan.

1. Ukraine split into 4 sections.
2. Moldova to be invaded as well.

Map has examples of USA army insignia from units stationed in Romania...
Military bloke on Sky News was saying they'd expect to see the map broken into four areas like that as it relates to areas of Ukrainian forces. More interesting to see the intent to push towards Moldova.

Maybe everything happening in the north is a distraction from what's going on in the south? I'm wondering that mind, not the military bloke on Sky News.

Putin was wrong. We were ready' - Biden

US President Joe Biden is expected to use his State of the Union address to say the west was ready for Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion.
"Throughout our history, we’ve learned this lesson – when dictators do not pay a price for their aggression, they cause more chaos. They keep moving. And, the costs and threats to America and the world keep rising," Biden will say, according to excerpts of his address released by the White House.
Biden will also say Putin eschewed efforts to prevent war.
"Putin’s war was premeditated and unprovoked. He rejected efforts at diplomacy. He thought the West and NATO wouldn’t respond. And, he thought he could divide us here at home.
"Putin was wrong. We were ready."

Really hope this is true. No one can lead a country without the support of its military. If members of the military on the ground are asking questions, you can only assume the same is true of some higher up. Putin's big stick of nuclear use can't be enacted if the military aren't supportive. Hopefully it all falls down around him, and hopefully it happens bloody quickly
All bets are off, of course, but my prediction earlier in the thread is that this will end with an overthrowing of Putin from within. Possibly when his calls for a Nuclear mobilisation is rejected.

Me too mate. Kiev may be a distraction. He'll meet his aims regarding corridors and suchlike before a cease fire and entering interminable talks about peace while he secures his position.

on the russian losses this fella seems to be very well respected and has only included equipment losses where there is some evidence to back it up. worth a read

Unverified as always.

I'd like that to be true but many soviets have the same thinking as him as theyv been brainwashed forever, even been interviewing Russians today who honestly believe Russia are in the right and its the rest of the worlds fault
