There is absolutely no comparison imo.
US could care less about Iraq long term and were happy to bail out when their needs were met.
Ukraine is the most important piece of the jigsaw for Putin, he won't give up on it.

Unfortunately, I think you could be right. Putin isn't going to let up without at least a small victory. Not that he deserves one for his war crimes. The Ukrainians have shown him up to be tactically not great and his soldiers are on the whole not great. At least the ones he has sent aren't.

I really do hope a fellow Russian kills him soon.

I think we have a lot more to worry about with China then Russia moving forward, I cant see Russia using nukes, more chance for Putin to be removed, it would be wonderful if Putin's attempts to recreate a USSR ended up with a closer Europe and a finished Russia as a creditable threat.

If Putin is removed and there's a true change in the thinking in Russia, we have to extend the olive branch and bring them into the fold, break the barriers of them and US, it will make for a much safer world.

I wonder how china is viewing all this and what's going through there minds now?

Anyway, each day Ukraine holds out is another nail in Putin's coffin, if reports we are seeing is true.

It already has created a better spirit across Europe. It has shown we all have a sense of fairness and share the same values. If anything good is to come out of this it’s that.

I meant regarding the people that are supposed to be getting on side with the invaders. The Americans could not cope once in there because Iraqis were happier as they were. Ukraine nationals don’t want this and I don’t see how Putin can possibly get them on side. They’ll most likely take Kiev but I doubt they’ll be able to win hearts and minds.

On that though I don't think Putin has real interest in occupying the country, he wants to win the war as quickly as possible (and win the peace), get what he wants, then pull out.
 
Lukashenko reckons once the Crimean forces have cleaned up down south their next target will be Moldova, more specifically the rebel held area of Transistria

Thought it was a foregone conclusion Moldova would get dragged into it with them not being a NATO member either. Looks like the plan will be to re-create the border going all the way through Southern Ukraine into North Eastern Moldova where they'll be welcomed with open arms into a population who consider themselves Russian.

I’m starting to think if he gets the coast, Kiev and a corridor to Crimea he will see that as a win. That’s the way it looks and the west will let him get away with it.
