Yes we need to do our bit as a country to help the displaced in every way we can, but it needs to be done whilst ensuring that our country is safe. There is a war on against an unhinged dictator who is capable of anything and we must ensure we know who we are letting in, unfortunately those wanting to partake in political point scoring either cannot or choose not to understand this.

But would dropping it in the North Sea mean I’m going to die?
im assuming that what this guy is talking about is suggesting the bomb in the north sea is like a shot across the worlds bows? it wouldnt have a direct impact on the north east coast on day one, but house prices in tynemouth might take a knock...

Wanting to join NATO is one thing for the benefits, but don't be ignorant to the fact this is in line with American foreign policy and increasing the sphere of influence. It's suffocating Russia in a way and bringing more and more military closer and closer to its border. It's as if were neighbours and we share a fence and every six months I'm moving it 4 inches into your side.
I beg to disagree. Russia is not contracting as a result of any former parts of the USSR joining NATO. The USSR is gone, it is no more. Putin might want to try and recreate it and the fact that former states want to join NATO makes that more difficult.

Parents of those already settled in the UK do not Currently qualify to join their family in the UK. This is about being humane.

Not when the illegally annexed territory has access to huge oil & gas potential that could threaten Russian gas wealth.
Crimea was important enough to annex so it's important enough to maintain.
Yes, thank you, I understand what Crimea is.

How does illegally taking it over 8 years ago and encountering predictable and entirely justified intransigence from the Ukrainian government provide any valid reason for shelling Kharkiv?

If any Russian wanted to come here to 'harm the country' they could hop on a plane with a tourist visa?
