If the Ukrainians hadn’t fought like they have and had rolled over per your suggestion, the world would have taken it as acquiescence and the world’s big news this week would be about some B list celebrity getting a haircut. In the last few posts people are saying about being choked seeing pictures of fathers saying goodbye to kids, etc….what for? To fight in war that more than likely can’t be won. My question is, is it worth it? Is the loss of life and destruction worth it?
My stance is coming from taking emotions out of it, once you get emotional about it then we’re prone to act/react in ways that aren’t necessarily the best.
The idea solution would have been for the Ukrainian and Russian governments to go to a great big clearing in Siberia and slug it out themselves. Leave the innocent Ukrainian and Russian folk out of it.
Ukraine wanted to be in the EU for a long time but weren’t allowed, corruption being one of the reasons. Both governments aren’t exactly great….to draw innocents into a pointless war is abhorrent.
Just about every poster who is calling for action, to stand up to Putin is acting on emotions, emotions of what they’re seeing and it’s completely understandable, it’s horrific. It goes up all sorts of unjust, uncomfortable feelings of wanting to fight back. Sometimes though, the sensible thing to do to win a war is to give away a battle and fight another day in a different way.

They had to fight to generate the outrage and the progressive waves of sanctions. Which is embarrassing for the rest of us but shows they understand the west.
