Yvette Cooper just ripped her a new one.
Her replies are so contemptible, the looks she gives and the head shaking, vile, vile woman.
Cooper is good, and she is just so contemptible, I refer you to my previous answer and it might help if MP’s listen.
Even her own MP’s having a go.
And you can tell by her tone she’s getting more and more rattled

Fifa in 'advanced talks' over suspending Russia

Fifa is in advanced talks over the full suspension of Russia until further notice, according to BBC sports editor Dan Roan.
The global football governing body is understood to be working closely with its European counterpart Uefa and an announcement is expected later today.
It would mean Russia would not be able to play at the women's Euro 2022 in England in the summer and Poland will get a bye in the World Cup qualifier play-off next month - a match that Poland's FA has said it will boycott.
Iceland has also said it will refuse to play against Russia in June, and the International Olympic Committee has recommended that athletes from Russia and Belarus be banned from competitions.

In other news, the Titanic has sunk

Even Alex Ovechkin, who might break the NHL all-time goals record, is a known Putin fanboy, and plays for the team in the capital of the United States, didn't manage to support Putin in this instance.

It's just a question of how far you want to punish Russians simply for being Russian. There have been calls for the NHL to suspend all its Russian players, which is a lot of guys - around 5% of the players.
It isn’t so much about punishment for being Russian but about taking away any Russian prestige where they can “advertise” how great they are.

Things like chess, Eurovision, football, the F1 race - all fairly minor in the singular but removal from all of them removes a lot of vicarious prestige for Putin.

Sad stuff being said by Ukraine's ambassodor at the UN meeting on BBC News (don't know if it's on Sky also)

its a tough call, but I would, to send a clear message.

If we aren't putting boots on the ground, we have to use everything to make the Russian population know its not acceptable and try and get people inside Russia to either talk some sense into Putin or replace him, I think every little thing helps.

Good point and well said. I hadn't thought of the NHL players in those terms.

Yet another tremendous post!😎😎😎. Put this into the context of propaganda, we’re told Russia uses propaganda yet you’ve just illustrated how much western propaganda there is against Russia. Sooner people realise that they’re just canny folk like us wanting to get on with their lives, put food on the table, raise their families the better the world will be
We know that Russians have been vilified for decades...it's been a postwar narrative in the West (esp the US) we're all familiar with. However I would also hazard a guess that nearly every one of us can tell the difference between the decent and downtrodden ordinary folk of Moscow or St Petersburg, and the mafia-like ruling class with Putin at its head, who have infiltrated our economy with their dirty money, and influenced our politics to our detriment.

I'm stopping too and it's probably because this is the most active thread in the Politics forum that posters can voice their opinions to many others who will be reading it regardless of topic. It's clear the attitude of the polically minded on this thread and it seems anything goes according to some like the poster you quoted. Like others I come here for updates and share stuff about what's going on in Ukraine and I'm not really interested in what someone thinks of a politician or the other crap that gets spouted.

Ignore it then.

Again, need to point out to you that this IS the politics forum. So don’t be surprised if people on this forum are therefore ‘politically minded’.

Isnt that a touch racist?

Part of the problem is a lack of understanding others cultures, which leads to mistrust, then seems to always end up in conflict.

I get the feeling this could snowball into a defining moment, but it could go either way, backwards into another cold war and a period of them against us, or maybe with luck and being into the information age, a leap forward where this kind of aggression just isnt acceptable, i have been stunned by the response world wide, gives me hope that humans aren't quite the lost cause yet.
Course it’s racist, to sort of prove a point but let’s keep racism out of it, that’s another debate, I probably shouldn’t have used that phrase.

Totally agree with the rest of your post though, said this earlier in the thread, the way people across the globe have pulled together will hopefully make leaders sit up and take notice that war isn’t why we want in any shape or form

Yeah, I don’t think it would be the right thing to do in this instance. Ovi has been quite vocal, whether you think that’s because he’s protecting his own interests is up for debate, but you’re line about punishing Russians simply for being Russian is bang on IMO.
