It's not now, it's been used a few years now and it's becoming more widely known. I only noticed last week when a reporter was using "Keev" so I googled it and found out why. This is an article from 2019 for example.

Free democracy/dictatorship, not east/west, once Russia has been a free democracy for many years, then we could end this shite.

That would be ideal, but they need better leadership, they still seem stuck in nationalist bollocks, wanting to reform the USSR. So much so that they're willing to invade a country full of people who are basically the same as them. It would be like us invading Ireland because we once occupied it.
