Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Russia is absolutely a dog shit state. What was even more disturbing Dmitry Medvedev was gleefully talking about bringing back the death sentence due to been kicked out of some euro deal. Don't get me wrong I am pro death sentence but it's not a fun thing.

Seems amazingly quiet again tonight. After Friday it seems to have died down a lot in Kharkiv and Kyiv. South coast the Russians are making some progress.

Supposedly the Russians were ordered to take Kyiv by Monday so you would assume that the lack of fighting is that they are not currently in a position to launch an offensive. They have split apparently and need coordination, fuel and ammo

More to do it's hard to get verified footage from the actual battlefield. It's not like they'll go for a half time interview with Geoff Shreeves.

As a way of calming things down here, can I point out that we are lucky to live in a democracy, unlike the Russians. We are lucky to be in NATO and choose whether or not to be in the EU, unlike Ukrainians. Some of us may not like Johnson and the Tories but we have the opportunity to vote them out.

So, please, can we stay on topic.

Lukashenko has apparently come out saying that all this Western reaction will simply push Putin to WW3

"Now there is a lot of talk against the banking sector, gas, oil, SWIFT," he said.

"It's worse than war. This is pushing Russia into a Third World War.

"We need to be restrained here so as not to get into trouble. Because nuclear war is the end of everything."

Obviously towing the party line of try to scare the west into backing down. EDIT - also the brilliant hypocrisy of him staying "restrained", aye like using your borders and resources to support a pointless illegal invasion. Alreet Alexander.

The little shit. Can't they capture him and stick him on tv in a tutu?

Well Putin has managed to unite the world in 72 hours like no one ever thought possible.

You mean the Euro-Atlantic, hate to be tedious but...

India, 1.3 billion people, China 1.4 billion, Indonesia 250 million people, Pakistan 225 million people, Bangladesh 164 million.

None of these countries are condemning Russia yet compromise almost half the world's population.
