Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

What gets me is that presenters on it are from the UK. They have friends, family, neighbours. Probably raised an eyebrow or two over the last few years, but now they are being Lord Haw Haws for a regime which is shelling civilians and oncology units, I'm astonished nobody's put their windows out or paintstrippered their cars.

I hope everybody they know turns away from them when they see them, and their family stop speaking to them.
There’s an Irish journalist who works for RT (Bryan MacDonald) who spent weeks telling all and sundry on Twitter that Russia wouldn’t attack, that the Kremlin are a great bunch of lads etc etc. Hope he has a thoroughly shit existence if he ever has to move back to Ireland.

This is looking to be Ukraine holding out until the money panic hits Russia.
Its the only way it will end - Russia will have no intention of giving up. We have to hope unrest inside of Russia causes a revolt against Putin. The worry being that this is going to cost the lives of some innocent Russian people.

Imagine the most immoral Prime Minister this country has ever had, a man who has cheated on numerous women, who has no clue as to how many kids he has, who shagged another woman on the settee in his house he shared with his wife who had cancer, rocking up at a Church, a church, with his history 🤣 to be photographed by an official photographer that us, the tax payers pay for.

You would laugh because you’d think it was too far fetched. You would, wouldn’t you

Stick to the subject please Jane as it got out of hand last night the political bashing of Tory/Labour and all that cack.

The Ukraine ambassador to the UK said they didn't want people moving to the UK (or other distant countries).

He specifically asked for aid for those countries that border Ukraine so that refugees can be looked after locally, with the hope that they will soon move back home.

The UK obliged and sent a further £40million in aid.
It's nonsense to suggest that the UK is or was refusing to take refugees.

I don't know why so many people are determined to make this a UK asylum and immigration issue.

Of course you'll have a small number who have family here etc. who might want to come here, but it seems the usual bleeding hearts have decided that large numbers of Ukrainians want to move here without actually asking them about it.

It seems to me most don't want to leave Ukraine at all, that they view themselves as temporarily displaced and would therefore want to stay close by and get home asap, not uproot thousands of miles away to Britain.

The border counties are all happy to welcome as many as necessary, and they'll of course find it easier to live amongst people who are more close culturally etc.

What we should be doing is supporting those border countries with the cost and whatever else they need to house so many refugees, whilst making it easy for those who do have links this the UK to come here.

There are just some people who are determined to use any and every situation to criticise their own country.
