Quick question...do we still have air sirens in the UK? Only time I've heard one sound was in Aycliffe. But I think that came from a factory on the industrial estate.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread my junior school had one installed in the early 80's but it's long gone now. There also used to be a nuclear bunker at the top of the ice rink car park in Durham city (where the new council building is). My old headmaster was in the ROC royal observer corps who were stationed there.
