I watched a documentary about the Vulcan a few years ago. The crews were alert and their orders if there was an attack were to basically fly the aircraft into the missile over the sea for damage limitation. ICBM travels at 4 miles a second and would take 20 minutes to hit London.

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ I'd be stunned if things haven't moved on a fair bit since then.

You never fail to have a sneering pop at forums or particular threads or the members on here.

If you're so dismissive of the place it begs the question why do you even log on?
This thread has been unusable, like others I don’t even bother to checkout much news now given I see headlines on here before they hit the bbc/sky news.

We cover facts, rumour and even feelings and worries.

It’s right people should comment on this saying they are worried and no one should criticise.

**engage bum licking mode***
Mods have done a brilliant job on this and keep things ticking quite nicely

Absolutely marra. I just remembered about the show and thought I'd post it. Nowadays there will be a live feed of the thing coming hurtling towards us before it gets taken down by a Max Power shot on goal.

I think you might have misheard that. Orders for Vulcan pilots were to get in the air and drop nukes on their pre determined targets.

It would be impossible to fly one into a missile.

Reading earlier on that a lot of the Russian tanks are ditching their diesel as they don't want to go to Kyiv and fight.

Conscripted troops are definitely less keen to fight than those who fight for a cause they'd lay their life down for. Again, referencing the Chechnya war Russian soldiers were shot psychologically when it didn't prove to be quick and decisive.

Technically conscripts aren't supposed to be sent to the front line unless they sign a contract but there's lots of anecdotal evidence that it's being ignored.

Kwasi Kwarteng saying this needs to be a wake up call for British businesses with Russian interests while his own government still won’t publish the Russian report
that man is unbelievable ...

Although he is a very slippery Tory

So yeah , believable...
