Can anyone explain what a nuclear deterrent team actually is or does?
And should I be shitting it.
No need to shit yourself. I used to live in Rugby before the Cold War ended and nearby was Rugby Radio Station with around 30 high masts that communicated with our nuclear submarines. It was accepted that Rugby would be a first strike target but people were philosophic about it saying it was probably the best way to go if a nuclear war began. We did have a couple of nuclear alerts but people still got on with their lives. Didn't stop me dropping loads of acid.

It's his way of trying to suggest Russia may soon be under nuclear attack. Its the countermeasure to if someone fired a nuke at you.

It's scary in the sense that it's the first time a super power has publicly dismissed arming some form of nuclear capability in a hot war since the fall of the Soviet Union.

But reading though the lines it's saying to Russians "they're trying to nuke us so we better get ready" ie trying to create a narrative of everyone being against them.

It's very different to arming nukes to fire in anger

I watched a documentary about the Vulcan a few years ago. The crews were alert and their orders if there was an attack were to basically fly the aircraft into the missile over the sea for damage limitation. ICBM travels at 4 miles a second and would take 20 minutes to hit London.

Err. Aye.
600mph vulcan at max 40,000 ft vs incoming ICBM warhead (that's about size of a phone box) at mach 25 & coming in from 100km up.

Your first sentence was completely undermined by everything that followed it.

I could be a mile wrong but Elwood does seems decent, and if I’m not wrong, it goes to my theory that while you might not agree with their politics their are some Tory MP’s who are fundamentally decent and principled people.

He put his letter in after Starmer was threatened.
No, they're all the same mp's 😉

I will always remember being in the Fulwell End when a Vulcan flew over the pitch from the Roker End flanked by two fighter jets. The whole ground went quiet. Would be 1970 or thereabouts.

You know when you went into the living room as a bairn and went to turn the telly over, and your parents gave you that look?
😂 jesus….my mum could stone cold the fuck out of anyone.

I guess I mean are there people literally sat prepping shit to hit the ‘button’?

Deterrent is really a bit of a misnomer here. I think it basically means Russian nuclear strike capability is on active standby. It’s concerning but is probably just rhetoric, it’ll always be on standby in reality.

The Russian public will start to kick off big style soon

Run out of money and shops will be getting looted
Although interestingly one of my friends knows someone in Kyiv and I was asking how she was doing.

She said one of the main problems was that there was a degree of looting and shooting because lots of people been given guns Indiscriminately.

Thanks for this, understood 👍🏻

He gave CPR to the police man that was stabbed to death outside of Westminster by a terrorist a few years back anarl xx

I think I may have misread it? It seemed to me that he was saying we were saying yes to people going who have combat experience?
He's saying officially were saying that but that that is stupid and we shouldn't be without ensuring the people going will be an asset and not a liability/martys
