All this Nuclear talk is rather scary, but you cannot just let Putin do what he wants. Everytime hes challenged hes just gonna shout "BUT NUKES" and get his own way. It is an incredibly delicate and difficult situation. Lets hope that peace can be found. Agree with what's being said above, no way will he want to be portrayed to have 'lost'.

Moscow state circus at seaburn at the minute

True story: In the late 1980s my wife was the translator/interpreteur for the first ever visit of the Moscow State Circus to N America. She also had to file reports on all the performers back to Moscow and look out for any who might defect (The circus would prove the backbone of Circe Soleil in later years ..easily the best in the world at that point). Anyhow, the first gig was in Atlantic City at the Taj Mahal resort. After the press conference in the afternoon she was approached by this fellow who wanted to take her for supper after that night's opening performance. She refused..some of the other Russians saw this asked what had happened and she told them..but you should have gone, they said. Don't you know he's the owner of the place?

But he had such weird hair, she replied.

A few years ago i was speaking with the US consul here in Calgary and told him I had definite proof that Donald Trump had links to a KGB operative.

(She quit working for them when she got back to Russia because she hated spying on her friends like that)

a quick google shows the mpg of a ww2 Sherman is .7mpg and an modern M1A2 is .5mpg

(i assume all modern MBT's will have similar mpg)

the Russians were expecting to roflstomp Ukraine, they appear unprepared for a sustained conflict and/or Ukrainian interference on the supply lines

a t-90 should have a range of 500km assuming ideal conditions, they should'nt be running out of fuel on a drive from Belarus to Kyiv even if going off-road, involved in fighting, etc
I don't think it's the ones going from Belarus to Kyiv that are running out, it's the ones covering the distances from the east.

I watched a documentary about the Vulcan a few years ago. The crews were alert and their orders if there was an attack were to basically fly the aircraft into the missile over the sea for damage limitation. ICBM travels at 4 miles a second and would take 20 minutes to hit London.

Bit of sense from a Tory backbencher.

I could be a mile wrong but Elwood does seems decent, and if I’m not wrong, it goes to my theory that while you might not agree with their politics their are some Tory MP’s who are fundamentally decent and principled people.

He put his letter in after Starmer was threatened.

they don't drive the tanks very far they transport them on low loader trailers close to the action then dismount them

Discussing how to help those Ukrainians in one of the only ways we can, by providing asylum for them and for their families throughout the war, and how we as British citizens can impact out government to do so, is not only relevant but probably the only thing any of us can do to help those real people very much fighting gir their very existence

The rest Is interesting but it's not actually helping anyone. Like literally it isn't. Because it can't.

The way for us to help Ukrainians is to make their reality a reality to our fellow citizens and MPs and use our time abd resources to pressuruse for change. That's what will benefit them most. Thst requires talking about our Government.

Not second hand Info of troop movements, sixth form level discussions about WW3 and how mental Putin is.

This thread is not a valuable resource to anyone involved in the war itself unless you use the information to lobby for a change in your own country. Sorry to break it to you.
The thread in general is interesting but it is all a bit odd in places, people calling for a united SMB politics forum as if it'll become a force for global good
