Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

it was rumoured that the US were prepared to offer us the loan of a USMC carrier should anything have happened to one of ours

NATO forces also picked up our commitments in the North Atlantic (and elsewhere) which enabled us to use more ships in the taskforce
Wow just wow about the carrier and after doing some reading it seems it was the USS Iwo Jima they were prepared to loan us - at least partly due to it's ease of use as primarily a helicopter carrier (able to accommodate our Harriers) and to be partly manned by a mix of retired seamen and private contractors to help us with its operation.

Thanks very much for that marra it's the first I've ever heard of it.

A still of a face can look misleading but regardless some like that Tw@tter post are talking crap in reality. How can anyone really know what he's thinking. Should he have been beaming like a Cheshire Cat rubbing his hands with glee?

He could have been a bit peeved as he didn't get his leg over this morning or he could be under great strain from the whole thing. The fact is nobody knows but to make assumptions like that based on a still (and a brief video clip) is just ridiculous.
I make you right when I consider the crap that's been spoken about me on this very forum...everyone's an Internet psychologist.

Interesting video of a captured Russian soldiers saying they didn’t know it was a full blown invasion until they got there and that it’s led to morale completely dropping among their forces. Can’t help but think Putin has completely ballsed the entire thing up from start to finish.

This is one of the most profound impacts of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It's hard to over-state what a seismic shift this is. Well done Germany.

Are you being serious?

It’s not a patch on Boris Johnson being interviewed in front of a plane full of supplies destined for Ukraine at Brize Norton; his MPs disingenuously claiming Boris is helping “on the frontline; the plane only getting as far as Poland before turning round and coming home with the supplies still onbaord

My leader ❤️

Oh of course.

But if this occupation collapses - as is looking likely - then he has nothing anyway.

Might as well go out with a bang than lose, be humiliated and possibly/probably prosecuted for war crimes or murdered by your own people.
There just needs to be something in the leave talks which gives the form of a 'victory'. Despite the scary language I still can't believe that a nuclear exchange is something he wants or desires.

It appears that ordered the nuclear forces to be put on alert at a meeting in the presence of Valery Gerasimov, whose resignation was announced on 26 February.
