Whilst peace talks between Putin and the Ukraine is needed, other heads of state need to put pressure on to hold a separate meeting. This has escalated more than a small conflict. The rest of the world is supporting the Ukraine and Putin will see this as aggression. As much as I admire Zelensky, the rest of the world is a bigger deterrent than the ammunition we have supplied. The opportunity to stop this is with us as much as it is the Ukraine.

Others will know better, but I believe tanks get around 1mpg and they have lots of them spread about all over Ukraine. I'd be surprised if they weren't running out of fuel.

I can't see what the peace talks will achieve unfortunately. Surely Ukraine's only talking point for peace will be getting the Russians to fuck off and stop the invasion? I can't see him accepting many compromises that Putin will likely want to make this look like some sort of success

At a guess, Ukraine neutrality but under a protected status. Give away Don bass & Crimea formally. Creation of mini USSR of Russia, Belarus plus those "republics" that allows Putin to say he's liberated Russian regions & rest can fuck off.

That would probably still be a win for Putin. When this all started Ukraine was adamant that would never happen.

The Donetsk plus a no nato agreement would be a win for Putin. But probably also a win for everyone else now

I think Putin had massively miscalculated the response from both Ukraine and internationally.

I hope this Putin looking for a face saving way out of all this.

Hopefully enough will come out of the peace talks for just that. Hopefully.

Putin is rambling, what sanctions does he think will be imposed after he has illegally invaded the Ukraine and then let off nuclear weapons. It has nothing to do with sanctions, it's all about the fact he has shown himself up and the big bad Russian army.

Hopefully when he enters the meeting there will be plastic wrapping underneath where he stands and a body bag in the cabinet.
