In fairness, based on the Louis Theroux documentary on the speaker last week they’re mainly a bunch of fringe Incels but the presence of sitting Republican congressmen/senators legitimises them somewhat.

Very emotional watching that. Image, God forbid, if we were in the same position. That's why I can't understand this drip drip drip of sanctions. What's wrong with "shock and awe" sanctions. Cripple Russia and their supporters in one go and take the hit that will bounce back onto us (increasing fuel prices etc).

It does seem like no one is in a position to mediate -or no willingness to do so sadly.

For mediation there has to be genuine concerns on each side and middle ground.

Unless Russia agree to end the invasion and let Ukraine return to democratic independent nation then there is not much to mediate.
