Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Are Russia a super power? Their economy is about the size of Spain’s. Their armed forces whilst massive are poorly trained and equipped.

So much for big bad Russia.

Regional power, not superpower.

Could you imagine the Americans in Ukraine? Put these Russian forces in Scotland against the British and they'd be in the f***ing North Sea by now.

You slightly missed the point of the other poster’s question. You and others are saying we can’t send troops in because Putin will nuke us. The poster was then asking where do you draw the line. Say Putin decides to attack the UK and France with conventional rockets, would people be saying we can’t fight back and defend ourselves because he will nuke us?
Not at all, Article 5 says if you attack one (of the alliance) then it's an attack on the whole of the alliance requiring a full retaliatory response - that was my point as to why nations are scrambling to join. The following link is a decent read although I don't necessarily agree with the main point it's making i.e. cyber attacks that could propagate to NATO countries' systems and then consequentially Article 5 would have to be invoked - it's an interesting read but it's purely scaremongering IMO.
