Whilst true, and I understand what you're saying, that isn't the exact point.

The point for discussion is - if interfering with Russian aggression into another country is discouraged because of the risk of nuclear war, does that not invalidate NATO?

I appreciate that you could say no, because NATO will prevent the attack in the first place, but if for whatever reason it doesn't deter an attack on a NATO country, then it does invalidate NATO and leaves us at Russia's mercy.

No-one was committed to helping Ukraine

Their crews were very divided down racial lines. A fair few of the white lads were quite brash and obnoxious, especially with drink inside them. The black lads more "yes ma'am, no sir' and not great drinkers.

But does that not lead to a contradiction?

We must not get involved in Ukraine NOT because they're not in NATO, but because of the threat of nuclear action.

That threat of nuclear action does not go away if we did retaliate against an attack on Estonia.

I suppose we'd see NATO forces joining together and possibly nipping it in the bud a lot quicker. For example they'd have protected the borders a lot better wouldn't they? I suppose different negotiations would have also been held so whose to say they'd have still attacked? As NATO haven't stepped in then it's been left to Ukraine and so far they seem to be doing OK, though they are getting help from other countries by proxy.

You'd also have to look at the reason as to why Russia would want to invade a NATO country. If they invaded just to spread themselved then you'd expect a firmer and swifter reaction from NATO surely? I have an idea why Russia invaded but would they do that to a NATO country using the same reasoning?

Some Russian Banks to be excluded from SWIFT, took a little time but the ball is starting to roll, if ordinary Russians are worried about getting cash from the banks not even Putin's internal security will be able to stop them from creating mayhem on the streets.

I remember talking to two huge black lads off the iowa (iirc) in the mucky duck. They'd heard about the taxi drivers ripping them off and asked us how much the fare was to Jo's (around £3-£3.50)
We to,d them a quid and if the driver tried to charge them any extra they should batter him.
We took them to the taxi rank and asked the driver to drop them at Jo's. He smiled and whispered "easy tenner" to us.

I'd love to know what happened
