Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Just been loads of Ukrainian lasses on BBC news making Molotov cocktails.

I am in awe of the Ukrainian people, they don't half have some balls.
Let’s hope their have some “celebration” night soon, if anyone in the world deserve to let their hair down for 5 mins it’s the ukranian’s, doing something no major nation in the world has wanted to do since ww2 and they’re doing it largely on their own 👏

Oh. That’s going to make him angry, isn’t it?

Just a petition for now.

Interesting mind if a few join in one go. Does that trigger WW3?

He doesn't have conventional forces to successfully attack Sweden, Finland, Moldova, Georgia. Not saying he won't but saying that would be a stretch.

Any threat would have to be air strikes as any land build up would trigger enormous deployment to defend. Ukraine has been left on own but I like to think a sign of a grab for countries not ex USSR would trigger a huge response.

Ultimately Finland can and should be allowed to do whatever it likes. Same as Ukraine and any other country if it wishes to join NATO.

It’s always been rumoured Putin longs for the Czarist empire not the USSR.

Ukraine’s curfews are another clever tactic. Basically helps distinguish any military or covert Russian operations. Be a fair few NLAWs and Javelins used on Russian columns blatantly driving through any urban area

If ww3 doesn’t start from this Ukrainian conflict I don’t think putin will be alive by the next time that possibility god forbid could come back around

I think he’s largely lost the fear factor, he said anyone else gets involved he’ll give them he’ll worst than ever seen before

The whole of Europe and elsewhere are sending in everything other than boots on the ground and he’s in a right battle with just one nations troops/civillians

Oh dear 😕

Before anyone gets hopeful of shooting down, the missiles have 1500km range. Lobbed in from total safety.

Hopefully the US has some backdoor channels to others in the Russian govt (after this and the past administration that might be hoping for too much, of course).

there must be serious questions being asked by people close to Putin. If nothing else there's lots of money at stake for some of those people..and you would hope they care enough about their own country's future as well as Ukraine to consider a coup. A one person dictatorship has some advantages when it comes to making quick decisions/exerciusing power etc. but can get very lonely very quickly if the tide turns

The sanctions from all countries need to be harder and wider ranging than they are. They should also include Belarus who are clearly acting as Russia’s patsy.

If we took Putin out with a targeted drone strike or an SAS assassination, then I think the people you are talking about will be relieved and free to find a common sense solution.

I’m not sure if it’s the 24/7 social media coverage but I feel like any second something is going to happen to trigger ww3, whether it be a shot down plane or ship etc. Can’t concentrate on anything else, think I need someone to say it’s not going to happen 😂
I can't really say that as nobody knows. I will say my nerves are shot to fuck worrying about what is happening though.

Absolutely not.

I just find it strange that every single post she/he makes is a negative one about the government. Like others have said, it's neither the time or the place right now.

Anyone would think she/he has an ulterior motive.
A lot of right wing people have an ulterior motive telling people "it's not about left and right" when it blatantly is.
Doing the right thing now doesn't excuse Johnson for heading a party drowning in dirty Russian money and treating refugees terribly.
