Can you start another thread about this? This is the third time I’ve asked someone to pack it in because I think this thread is better kept to the topic at hand. As I’ve said to the other two you are entitled to keep posting I’ll just stick you on ignore.
You're not the headmaster mate, sorry to break it to you.

Please cater your reading of the forum as you so choose

We're trying to get one of my wife's friend's old mom out..she has refused to leave, despite being in Donesk and on her own, for years. But things are now even worse and she has agreed to leave. Hopefully canada will move quickly given the large Ukarianian population here.

There are no flights out of Ukraine right now.

All other methods of transport rely on them travelling through at least one country to get to us - and the Home Office have said that they will send back refugees who enter “illegally” including passing through other countries.

The refugees can’t get here.

“The uk has failed to set up a legal route for refugees to get here”
We should have people over there dealing with asylum applications. Grant temporary asylum status if it will speed things up and get them over here on chartered flights

Ukrainians were instrumental in the early development of western Canada..carving out a livelihood on the high northern plain 100 odd years ago wasn't the life for many western europeans. They were given a piece of land and little else....why today Canada now has the third largest Ukrainian population in the world behind the country itself and Russia...
didn't know that, very interesting. Any of them politicians?

Must be the most powerful tweet I've read on this conflict.
On a similar note, I can't find the full thing anywhere, I only have it on Audiobook but AA gills essays on emcpunter8mg refugees is some of the most incredible pieces of humanity I've ever encountered in writing, there's some extracts in this twee

The deputy prime minister Crista Freeland is a big supporter and comes from a Ukrainian background . As a young woman she worked in what was then the Ukraine part of the Soviet union on helping the independence movement. so much so she was banned from the country by the KGB and is still not allowed in Russia.

Wayne Gretzky is of Ukrainian heritage as well..for all you hockey lovers

I hope we do change our stance on accepting people from Ukraine but I also hope we give Poland and the other neighbouring countries economic support if many of the Ukrainian people wish to stay near their own country, many will have left dad's, sons, husbands and or boyfriends behind. If they want to come to UK we should be doing all we can do to help but Poland and the other countries will need our help too if majority wish to stay near to Ukraine.
