Just because twitter says something has happened doesn't stop it being 2014 images rehashed, just because someone on Facebook decides where a missile came from doesn't make it factual.

I think the West is waking up to the fact that they fucked up big-time here. Nobody with any sense believes this can all be laid at Putin's feet. But the absence of a coherent policy to help protect Ukraine is a separate issue from the demonization of Putin.

I have no problem with your argument about people making statements then not following through with them, but some targets are unfair and it’s a little unkind to target those people.

Sounds about right to me.
Between Nato, the EU, Trump, the German reliance on russian gas, there has been no single coherent policy towards Russia for a while.
Complacency after the fall of the USSR imo.

Eh I doubt it. I think they recognise something has gone wrong which was not expected.

Many of those most culpable for that have not shown any capacity to recognise responsibility for their actions in any other arena though and I doubt they'll start here.

As I said, it's a personal bug bear of mine. People shouting for other people to do things whilst they cant/won't themselves

I agree. It’s a tough one to navigate because ultimately it would be better if society shared certain burdens and on the other hand the moralising can be quite sickening.
