I'm not trying to take away from the serious of the situation but your reaction is exactly why misleading images/videos etc are being posted to stir up emotions and opinions. A few more pictures here including the one you are choking up at and another one of the lass from an article dated March 2016.It’s so powerful.
I choke up every time I look at it to be honest.
I thought the image looked a bit 'staged' and looking at this one below and others it seems they were as they're from the Ukraine's Ministry Of Defence Facebook page as the caption translates to this. It took me a few mins to check this but normally if you read comments in the Twitter links there's someone who will have already pointed out if something is fake/misleading etc.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine published a series of photographs entitled "Children of War" on its Facebook page. “For us, dear parents, dear children, relatives, relatives; but all ideas about love for something are combined in one word “Motherland” (Cicero). Thanks for the incredible photos from the album “Children of War” to the author Dmitry Muravsky, ”says in the caption of the photo album.
