Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Mind some of the footage is a couple of days old now. It shows it's getting harder to get anything out. As much as I admire the resilience they've shown, the Ukrainian resistance will unfortunately crack. They're hanging on for the draw, but we all know the sucker punch injury time winner is coming.
Injury time? It's only about ten mins in and it's all one way traffic truth be told. The visitors also have their main threats currently warming the bench too.

I wouldn't be so sure. How many men of fighting age? 15-20 million?

They need weapons, lots of them. If they get them the Russians are fucked.
I don't think so much as fucked, marra, but certainly a bit of a bloody nose. The Russians could still roll out some pretty heavy hardware yet. What it does though is it puts doubt in the Russian peoples heads about what's going on.

People are only interested as it's a war in the direction of us though, don't kid yourself a lot of people aren't wanting to go to war because of the people dying. It's because it might affect them.

See Afghanistan for example which no-one cares about and I'm certainly not defending the Russians but it's true what she said yesterday that we didn't give a toss about about Crimea or Eastern Ukraine.

People only care about thereselves some admit it others try to hide it through 'morals'. It's been broken for a long time.
Our society has for a long time been built on sanctimony, greed, selfishness and self-entitlement.

Maybe so but Russian government have lost a lot of face families have lost sons fathers and husbands not to mention poverty,

I’m really shocked Russia didn’t drop parachute regiments into Kyiv from day one and link up with the rest
They tried but lost contact of the airport on the first day due to a counter attack.

Rumours two transporters have been downed, both capable of carry 150 paratroopers. The thing is he won't want to go and flatten the place. He wants it for himself, so why destroy something that is going to cost to rebuild? Especially when the infrastructure is very good.

The west will start to supply Ukraine with more hardware

Yeah was a lot smaller than I expected

this is incredibly important. if ukraine can take down russian aircraft and deny them airspace it will make a massive difference.

Putin has only matter of hours/days to reach his objective (whatever that will be) before the hardware arrives from the West.

He will know that once the Ukrainians have the more advanced technology, his army won’t have the air cover needed

Yeah but think they were only small scale he could have controlled the situation quickly his generals heads will roll

Some of us do care about Afghanistan. We should be there now slaughtering the Taliban.

And many of us bemoaned inaction over Crimea and said it would lead to where we are now. Russian should have been expelled from Crimea and the Donbas in 2014.

I’m not surprised at all , he’s living in the past , a KGB bully from the USSR who’s forgot how the world has moved on.

This invasion isn’t exactly going to his plan at the moment, I think he’s underestimated the hatred for Russia from the Ukrainians and their willingness as a people to fight back.

A war of attrition will be the end result rather than a quick invasion followed by a surrender.
They don't have the finances or men for a war of attrition. He expected to roll in and for defences to crumble. Then they didn't. Now he's having to call on allies to try and support. I think he'll want to take Keiv and then negotiate for peace (no NATO and Russia gets the 3 states with russian separatists in control). Bexause there's no chance they can occupy the country at this stage.

Longer thus goes n the more money and and hardware the west gives the Ukrainians (look at the Soviets invasion of Afghanistan as an example)

I hope you’re right and I am way off. I can’t see what else he has to gain from capturing Ukraine, apart from been one step closer to reinstating the Soviet Union.
The NATO thing is a false flag, countries bordering Russia are already in NATO.

It's about barriers. Having Ukraine there with a puppet in charge creates a gap between the EU/NATO and Russia and also a nuisance for us even known there's already other bordering countries. It's the same reason why China puts up with North Korea as it creates a gap to South Korea and also is now putting up with Russia as it creates a gap to NATO/EU.
