Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

I’m genuinely surprised at how badly Putin is managing the propaganda and social media side of it. It’s something they’ve worked on for years yet a bloke with a Go Pro walking round Kyiv with the rest of the government, 13 people on an island, an old woman with some seeds and a puppy are absolutely hammering him.
Never thought I’d say it but thank god for social media, makes managing propaganda on a huge live scale like this virtually impossible, Russia can ban Facebook etc but people get sent texts, phone calls etc from other countries

Mind some of the footage is a couple of days old now. It shows it's getting harder to get anything out. As much as I admire the resilience they've shown, the Ukrainian resistance will unfortunately crack. They're hanging on for the draw, but we all know the sucker punch injury time winner is coming.

It's been stated many times that if the West send troops in right now there is a fear of him doing something catastrophic. Supplying Ukraine with ammunition and humanitarian needs is the way to go right now along with sending troops to protect nearby NATO countries.

I personally think you are being way off thinking Putin is going to try for a whole European invasion. Whaaaay off!!
I hope you’re right and I am way off. I can’t see what else he has to gain from capturing Ukraine, apart from been one step closer to reinstating the Soviet Union.
The NATO thing is a false flag, countries bordering Russia are already in NATO.

RT's main Lord Haw Haw is the son of the really well-respected former journalist John Suchet. Feel for him, he must be sickened to hear his son being paid to lie on behalf of the people shelling civilians.
Apologies for my earlier post on this. I misread RT for RTE and misunderstood the argument

it’s a generation thing, us old twats don’t realise how powerful social media is, Putin lives in an age where the fist is king

Exactly. I honestly don’t think he expected another country that’s similar to Russia in a lot of ways to work the same way Russia does. It’s baffling.

Maybe mate, could also be if the west see's 1000's of dead Civilians on the news, more likely we would be tempted to send troops to enforce a peace, he has to play a balancing act now, but the PR war is going badly against him, we also have to factor in the Generals in Russia, if Putin is ill, maybe there really isnt much desire for this, Could even be a fact that the Army has hidden from Putin how bad it is supplied, if all the news coming out about lack of fuel and food is true, I wouldn't want to be the one to tell Putin any bad news thats for sure.

Think that was the problem with Hitler, just had yes men, all scared to tell him he was wrong, could be a case of that here.
There was talk weeks ago about Russian soldiers in Belarus who were drunk and unfit. The Belarusian soldiers, who I'm assuming are pretty well drilled, couldn't believe what they were seeing apparently.

I wouldn't be so sure. How many men of fighting age? 15-20 million?

They need weapons, lots of them. If they get them the Russians are fucked.

I’m not surprised at all , he’s living in the past , a KGB bully from the USSR who’s forgot how the world has moved on.

This invasion isn’t exactly going to his plan at the moment, I think he’s underestimated the hatred for Russia from the Ukrainians and their willingness as a people to fight back.

A war of attrition will be the end result rather than a quick invasion followed by a surrender.

Maybe so but Russian government have lost a lot of face families have lost sons fathers and husbands not to mention poverty,

I’m really shocked Russia didn’t drop parachute regiments into Kyiv from day one and link up with the rest

See my previous post - Russia is a leader in cyberattacks and social media manipulation. It’s the one thing they’ve demonstrated proficiency at over the last 10-12 years yet here he’s been completely outflanked and I’m really surprised at how badly he’s doing.

To play devils advocate…Cuba should have been allowed to choose if it wanted Russian missiles on its soil.

I know what you're saying.

Russia (or Putin rather) has shown itself to be an untrustworthy aggressor however (diplomatic avenues failed and were scoffed at by them), which NATO protects against (as well against the aggressive actions of other states).
Those countries joining NATO are joining for a reason surely, the reason being that they fear past aggressors and want to be democratic and free from torment?
