Most of politics is human compassion, and feel, and then you cut through the noise or the technicalities. I base my politics on what I think is right, not how systems are setup.

Apologies, meant to reply on mandarin. Mine is shit but I’m getting there. My tip is to be exposed to it regularly as you need to get the sound, and learn phrases through pinyin. Feel free to PM if you want advice!

The Chinese govt is quite something. The Chinese people are generally great in my experience, extremely welcoming and friendly. I love travelling round the place.
Cheers mate I'll do that in the next few days (I tried before and it mentioned that I couldn't get to your profile or something, but failing that I'll start a thread!)

It’s a weird one now with general mobilisation. If all citizens have access to arms, how do you immediately distinguish between armed/unarmed civilians. I guess that will be the defence of any general.

Georgia, Chechnya and Syria has seen Russia deliberately target civilians with aerial bombardments in the last 25 years. As far as I’m aware, no one has been held to account yet for any of those war crimes.
Well, this is a morbid discussion, but I get the necessity. It's difficult, but you have to try. And dropping indiscriminate weapons on residential areas isn't going to cut it. That's why certain classes of weapons are generally held to violate the laws of war - they're fundamentally unable to be used in a way that distinguishes between legitimate and impermissible targets.

British Government actively stating how it intends to deny Ukrainian refugees

The Government are just playing to the voters here. The majority of people don’t want refugees and asylum seekers who don’t come straight here.

To be fair most refugees will go to Poland or Romania, this is natural.

Not that it would do much as they’d just drop more bombs, but there really should be a maximum size bomb that can legally be dropped on none military structures.

Again, morbid to even say that it’s ok to drop a 10lb bomb on a house but not a 100lb one.

Oh I'm well aware mate, that's a very cuntish outlook at the best of times, buy the hypocrisy of the Government saying it stands with Ukrainians while literally working to not do the one thing of worth it can actually do for its people is something needs highlighting. Especially on a thread where multiple people have pointed out how we're "the good guys"

Maximum size bomb?

Not that war crimes means a f***ing thing anyway. There's never any consequences for the perpetrators.

Interesting read. Covid obviously has reduced his travel, but he’s been pretty active in general. Foreign travel may become a lot harder going forward

Charles Taylor hasn’t yet found anywhere to eat in Durham

Can’t disagree. Scotland has a population of around 6 million and has 200k properties that are vacant.
Maximum size bomb?
Yeah, a limit on the size of something that can be dropped in areas where there’ll be civilian casualties.

Again, not that it matters, as those who target these areas won’t care anyway.

pretty sure 1000lbs - 2000lbs are typical air to surface bombs these days. that's what we regularly dropped on targets in afghanistan etc.

The hacking group Anonymous have just released the full database of the Russian Ministry of Defence. Passwords, Tel numbers and email addresses.

Putins own website is also reportedly down.

I suppose even something as basic as a roadside sign saying "warning mines" may be enough to slow a column down enough to get a decent shot at it
you could use reverse psychology
мінне поле for fake minefields (ukrainian)
минное поле for the real ones (Russian)

They edge down the fake fields so you can shoot them but ignore the signs in Russian thinking they thinking ha they think we are stupid.
