Hasn’t Ukraine been trying to be part of Nato since as early as 2008 or at least Nato acknowledge it and Georgie could joint Nato? If they wanted it so badly you’d have thought they’d have done it by now.

I don't think it's ever gone well.

Nazis and Japanese are pretty much the only military power since the ascent of mechanised/aerial warfare to have made effective use of it in an invasion .

And even then it was short lived. Helped that they didn't give a shit about ruling by consent as well. The war for hearts and minds is pretty tough to win when you're in someone else's country uninvited.

It’s in the nature of the security council - only U.K., US, Russia, China and France have permanent seats. The rest rotate amongst the other UN nations.

Basically, the vote is indicative of Russia’s isolation in the UN over this. Even Putin’s crutch, the CCP, wasn’t willing to publicly back him.

Own the consequences of your actions. Putin told us what he wanted 20 years ago. He told us how he would do it.
