That's what really annoys me about the creepy sycophants who bang on about Putin being a 'strong leader'.

Easy to look like a strong leader when you rig elections, change the laws so you can become an equivalent of a king leading in perpetuity, kill or imprison your opponents, have journalists murdered, force out media that aren't state parrots, have your critics who've fled the country murdered abroad, suppress anything critical about yourself, and have apartment blocks of your own citizens blown up in fake terror attacks so you can start a war elsewhere.

Christ knows we have a shallow pool of leaders in the West but at least they have to be accountable to an electorate and subject to at least some of their mistakes being publicly picked over.

There was a reason Angela Merkel was considered the most powerful woman on the earth. Even Putin was intimidated by her.

Being in charge of an economical and military powerhouse while winning elections by a complete landslide without rigging them. Her very last one with the right of anti-migration parties was her worst result and still got 41% of the vote between 38 different parties.

Her standing down was the best thing to happen to Putin since Brexit.

The last time Russia got in a war like this it lasted a decade mind.

I think its got greater potential to be Similar to the Troubles or the Civil War in Sri Lanka. Officially resolved pretty quick but actually goes on in pockets of insurgency and counter Insurgency for decades

Putin has now directly threatened Finland and Sweden against joining NATO, this in top of the threat to any other country helping Ukraine during this time.

Pretty chilling stuff, and I'm genuinely worried Putin wants his place in history, whatever the price.

If this starts to go badly for Russia, and I think it might, I can see him ordering nuclear strikes. Whether his military team will go through with it on his orders is another question, but I honestly think we've never been closer to a nuclear war.

Seven days ago I would have laughed that suggestion off, in fact even just four days ago I didn't think he would even invade!!

Now however, after watching him spout his bile in person and just seeing his facial expressions and bizzare rantings I genuinely think he has lost the plot. I fear world leaders are thinking exactly the same.

I'm not sure Germany is a military powerhouse. And she has left her country a fair bit dependant on Russia.
