Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

I get your sentiment but that's probably looking too late.

The forces are only going to protect the NATO frontline they are not going to counter the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. As long as the U.K. or other NATO counties don’t get involved in actually warfare then there is a chance that this won’t result in a world war - which is small consolation for the people of Ukraine.

There is however the morale dilemma of should NATO/Europe be standing up for Ukraine and also whether this invasion is just the first of more moves by Russia to take back parts of Eastern Europe, which if they did would trigger NATO forces regardless.

If by functioning you mean swathes of the country who have close to 100% unemployment and live in abject poverty.

Watch Simon Reeve’s journey through Russia and it shows what an absolute third world mess the country is.
When you say country have you seen the size and diversity of it? And yes, if you go back a few years, a lot of people in Russia would say he’s done a half decent job. I know that doesn’t fit in with our narrative at the minute but hey ho, we’ll just ignore it

I know it's only chess, but everyone should follow suit. Pull all sports out of Russia and get their teams out of competitions. Make the public question what's happening and why.

And get Mazepin and his father's money out of F1 because he's a waste of a seat.

excellent again, well done to chess

Indeed but I think the West will send troops to defend Europe’s eastern frontier, the eastern borders of Poland, Romania and the Baltic states, Even just a statement of defensive defiance.
this - as the Ukraine president said Putin wants a new wall between east and west

  1. Ukraine's interior ministry also says 18,000 machine guns have been given to volunteers
I suppose Russia will see that as a green light to bomb civilians now - "we thought they were armed volunteers".

Anyone shed any light on the legal agreements in place when Ukraine agreed to remove their nukes? What did we actually committ to in terms of their national defence?
