Russia claims it has killed more than 200 Ukrainian troops in attack on airfield​

We've been hearing more from Russia on its advancement through Ukraine just now.
Its defence ministry has said it "eliminated" more than 200 people from Ukraine's special units during the capture of Hostomel airfield, which is in a northwestern suburb of Kyiv.
It is likely to be the same airfield that Russia has just reported it captured and landed paratroops at.
Separately, the defence ministry also said the Russian military has blocked the city of Chernihiv in northern Ukraine.
The military is also supporting separatist forces in eastern Ukraine to attack Ukrainian army positions, it said.

I know its Russian statements, but that is horrendous reading.

Once they start putting tanks on the street it won't last long unfortunately. Sky news have just showed a convoy of tanks rolling through the country, presumably on their way to Kyiv. They had to speed the footage up as it was 38 minutes long of just tanks bumper to bumper. That's a lot of hardware.

Aye that was mental footage, armoured vehicles and weapons as far as the eye could see, a total conveyor belt of hardware.

Sky news reporting that Ukraine special forces are taking up positions on the main road leading to the capital, and lots of civilians taking up arms ready to fight.

EDIT: Civilians threatening people who take photos and give away information of the Ukraine military. Fair I reckon, they'll be in panic mode and not wanting any unnecessary intelligence given away.

I guess when you are over stretched you just need to cut your loses in some areas and fortify others. I hope Russia really struggle here and they are pushed back. This should be where the west defensive weapons come into play, lets hope we give them enough.

there will by Russian spies left right and centre with that type of population.

So the general consensus is, that the Russians will surround Kyiv with their entire forces and deliver an ultimatum, either way we're coming in.

It certainly seems like they're going to defend Kyiv with all they have.

Farmers and factory workers facing Spetsnaz troopers man. The Spetnaz are trained to kill basically and will have no mercy. Echoes of the French resistance taking on the SS.
