Belarus are getting away with murder here, and if it was me in charge, id be focusing my anger on them to start.

You volunteering like ? Any of your family in the military?
We’ve sacrificed far too many of our sons and daughters in the recent past to get involved in the fighting .
If and when there is no other options left then get boots on the ground but we are nowhere near that situation.

Says his gran rang him this morning to say she was woken up by bombing. His dad is heading to Kyiv to defend the city. His friend is a new dad and is defending Kyiv. Former colleagues are heading from other cities to defend Kyiv.

He goes on to talk about being let down by the West who are more interested in looking like they're doing something than doing anything. Sanctions designed to look after US and EU economies rather than damaging Russia. The people there have done everything they could to be a free, open democracy and now they've been left on their own by the world they wanted to be part of.

Bit of an update on this lad this morning. Apparently he's decided to join his mates and his dad in picking up a rifle and heading to Kyiv.

Just an ordinary fella probably like plenty of others I've worked with myself. I don't know the lad but I'm rooting for him.

If a nato country is attacked next -then in my very limited understanding of all this we have to get involved ( personnel wise?)

Kaliningrad is more of a separate enclave of Russia, rather than the main country. I don`t think a NATO country that borders Kaliningrad would be seen as a major threat to national security bearing in mind Kaliningrad and the main bulk of Russia are separated by Lithuania, Latvia and Belarus. so it is a little different to having the full border of Poland on the doorstep of Russia but point taken.

Belarus should face sanctions for allowing Russian troops to pass through and attack another sovereign state. They are just as comp-licit in this as Russia.

The average German is pissed at this, yes. Nobody wants to be over reliant on Russia except the moron politicians who have carried on supporting ex-chancellor Schröder due to his connections to Gazprom bringing “great deals” for gas. I’ll be there with over 4000 others protesting in front of the Kanzleramt today despite covid restrictions requiring the protest to be registered (not sure if they managed this yet, yesterday’s certainly was too impromptu to get an official go-ahead), so yes I’d say the average German wants more action.

Highlights the reality of the situation from a 'real-life' perspective. Its stuff like this that the media need to be focussing on. That ordinary people, the bloke next door, the lass dow the road are going to the front line as civilians to defend their homes against a trained military invader. Sickens me to bits that in 2022 this still goes on. Putin is playing f**** Risk with real people

I've already said, stop the sabre rattling and make sure his troops kept to the promises of the peace keeping arrangement. If you can tell me how pouring fuel on a fire is a successful strategy for peace. I'm intrigued to know it.

Couldn't agree more mate, they have helped a rogue state attack a peaceful country. And are culpable,I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned more in the media.
