Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Well if a country is allowed to occupy another European nation in 2022, and nothing is done by UN or NATO, we may as well all pack in.

I don't think it's going to be a walk in the park for russia, particularly trying to occupy a large country like Ukraine with multiple borders with EU/NATO countries whose citizens clearly want to remain a democracy leaning more towards europe than russia.

I’ve posted a couple of times. Even the Ukraine ambassador of the UN said this is the death of the UN.
By standing around watching a country be invaded and do so little about it shows the UN isn’t that great. The countries that are making the most noise and biggest threats are the minnows of the UN.
Kenyan ambassador was losing his shit earlier about this whole thing

200,000 troops for the poorest country in Europe is actually overkill.
Moreso, Ukraine have revealed what Russia's main objective is and is to kill Zelensky so they can install their own Government, 200,000 people for 1 man is definitely overkill.

Once the main force reaches Kyiv, no ones getting out. They're having serious issues getting to Kyiv as it stands however.

Well it was what the UN was designed for. I do worry that there's a few nations who almost have a conflict of interest regarding Russia, so wont take a strong stance against them. But that's because the UN is weak as piss now.

Of course the days of America being the 'world's police' went on September 11

Russia, fighting a harder battle than they thought putin will know if he has to deploy more troops it can make him weak. After this I don’t think he will have the man power or resources to go any further. Even if he takes Ukraine resistance will be strong. I think he’s fighting a nation who would rather die than change hands.

It would actually break my heart in a non-existent war scenario if we ever had to destroy the Wearmouth Bridge to stop an enemy crossing, which ought to remind us in this case the sheer horrors of war and sacrifices to save one's country.

Saying that in World War II we had strategically fortified the River Wear around South Hylton, Pennywell and Offerton with pillboxes (look at studies of our old war infrastructure) to prevent an enemy crossing the river from the North./

In fairness although its 3 years old this independent article was ahead of the game and points to the Eastward expansion of the EU as both the catalyst for Brexit and more worryingly the problems re: Migrancy and Russian security..

This is from 2019 remember:

"There had been a time when Russia drew a clear distinction between Nato and the EU, which allowed the European Union a more productive role. But security aspects of the EU’s draft agreement with Ukraine put Russia on its guard, with the result that Nato and Russian forces are now deployed in close proximity on what has become the new dividing line of Europe."
That won't go down well on here. I read another article a while back written by a very Pro EU source. Whilst doing its best to not criticise the EU it still couldn't not completely dissolve them of tinkering.

sure they may topple zelensky, then what? i don't think it's going to be that easy to secure and occupy the country in the long term. ukranians already kicked out one pro-russian leader and they'll most likely do it again.

So Ukraine have asked
For help today for Nato EU and the UN to sit back and watch doing nothing, proof in the pudding that they don’t care.

Let’s light up our buildings and sanction them which won’t take an effect till after the war is really over and isn’t bothering them one bit.
