It's a good point, I always believed it was a strategic point to cut corners on transportation and logistics but not quite sure.
It seems a bit bizarre to me. They have access to all the nuclear capabilities they need.
Unless it’s just a strategic position? Which is possible given proximity to Kiev.

They said something on the news earlier that it was the best and most direct route to kiev.
Yeah seems so.
Looking at my photos from 2019. Kiev is a brilliant city, had a brilliant long weekend there.

Ironic considering the Chernobyl disaster was a catalyst for the breakup of the Soviet Union
