To me it would, especially if the Isle of Wight had sided with the Nazis in WWII - and believe me Russia's experience with them was infinitely worse than ours.

Manufactured in a lab with intent to spread - exceptionally unlikely

Manufactured or modified in a lab and accidentally leaked - unlikely but plausible

Naturally occurring but studied in a lab and accidentally leaked - more likely than the other two, but still unlikely

Naturally occurring - simplest explanation so Occam’s razor says most likely

Do you live/work near a Russian community or have Russian colleagues? Would be interesting to hear what the Russian diaspora in the west think about this.

One of those threads where I read loads and comment little.
Mind still blown at how horrific this is.
Like watching someone torturing a kitten with your hands tied behind your back.
I get its a political time bomb with potential repercussions if we intervene but its just so wrong. Great to see the people of Russia against it and in this era of social media and capitalism the war may be won not on the battlefields but on the Internet and the world of global finance.
How that bodes for the future may not be a good thing mind.

Not anymore to the first two. I actually do know someone local to me who is Ukrainian and is married to a Russian. You can imagine neither of them thinks highly of this.

It was always surprising to me that they couldn't pin point it straight off the bat. In literally every other field any sort of irregularity can be spotted, by the experts, very quickly. Time will tell, its a 50 /50 for me,nothing surprises any more.

There’s been all kinds of challenges raised particularly since the filming of Iraqi POWs in the Gulf Wars.
