BBC five live had an interview today with a retired general (American I think) who was saying a large number of Russian soldiers in the Ukraine are conscripts and that their professional troops are being held back.

I don't think Russia has all that many professional soldiers in all honesty. Not of any quality anyway.

There’s a fair few parachute regiment currently fighting with Ukrainian special forces (allegedly) who ain’t conscripts
Standard practice mate. Why lose the best first?
They have sent small
Snippets of the best in to test the waters according to Twitter etc. Ukraine will turn to gorilla warfare soon.

Honestly keep hearing the word sanctions and it really doesn't sound like it's anywhere near enough punishment for invading a neighbouring country that was at relative peace.

However when the other prospect is possibly nuclear war that puts billions of people at risk of death, it's an almost impossible choice for any of the other world leaders right now.

If Putin goes on the offensive past Ukraine though, I think it'll end up forcing the hands of all the other countries.

The thought of them having Chernobyl as a weapon to unleash untold destruction on the world though is frightening beyond belief.
wouldnt that also affect Russia?
