if all of that was actual fact, and it isnt. Some facts - Since the dissolution of the USSR, Russia had a large military / naval base in Crimea. In 2014, the US overthrew Ukraine's government, aiming to make Ukraine an outpost for NATO or NATO's interests, and to kick Russia out of Crimea, which is an exceedingly valuable strategic point on the Black Sea.
In response to the US-orchestrated coup, Crimea, which had tried to leave Ukraine and rejoin Russia for decades, lawfully chose to join Russia. And the heavily Russian-ethnic regions of Donetsk and Lugansk in eastern Ukraine declared their independences from Ukraine and also sought to join Russia (but Russia didn't accept them).
This infuriated the US and NATO, which then proceeded to funnel weapons into Ukraine and train Ukrainian troops and also Nazis, and encourage Ukraine to not stop trying to take Donetsk and Lugansk back by force. Years ago, Ukraine also signed the Minsk accords, under which Ukraine agreed to grant Donetsk and Lugansk autonomy within Ukraine. But Ukraine never upheld the agreement and continued to try to retake Donetsk and Lugansk by force.
After 8 years of Donetsk and Lugansk being brutalised by Ukraine, Russia decided it'd had enough and finally recognised the independence declarations of Donetsk and Lugansk, and agreed to protect them, from Ukraine's attacks.
As Russia moved forces into Donetsk and Lugansk a day or two ago, the shelling of those regions by Ukraine's army stopped for a while. That was the first calm those regions had had in years. But then, for who knows what reason, Ukraine started heavily shelling those regions again, and shelled them all last night and today. And this time, Russia's military was in those regions. In response, Russia had launched missile strikes and some other operations against Ukraine, taking out Ukraine's air defences and airforce, as well as other military targets.
Wasn't it Simpson who got blown up in an friendly fire air strike?A good journalist never leaves their post until the last possible moment. Probably the people I respect most and am most fascinated by. Absolute heroes and always great people if you ever get to see them speak at events. Simpson, Bowen, Aidie etc have all spoken at the Cheltenham Literature Festival and are always popular.
That's not their job, it's not what they're trained for. War correspondents are the bravest of the brave, but it is important that someone is telling the story properly from the front. It's why Vietnam such a game changer. The first time the world saw a conflict live.Madness , get them out as the army is approaching

Don't think this will last long.I think the last sentence is poetic licence from you tbh, don't think anybody has specifically said that. Just realistically as you say, the only thing to hope for now is for Ukraine to successfully resist, I don't even know if that's realistic.
I dunno, it just doesn't seem to stack up. All of this death, destruction, the political crisis, the risk to his economy and to his country, the untold stress that he has caused himself, the fact that he can't possibly come out of this as a winner, I just can't weigh up what he is set to gain, whether and ego trip or expanding Russia's territory, against what he is risking losing.
Just seems like there is something else at play. Surely the entire invasion has been discussed by his cabinet and it isn't just happening on the whim of one 69 year old bloke ?
What is worse is that this demonstrates why any country won’t give up their nuclear arsenal. They’re here to stay for many more decades now thanks to Putin.
Amongst other things. Been under hail of fire so many times. Incredible he survived. Even more incredible he kept going back. Legend.Wasn't it Simpson who got blown up in an friendly fire air strike?
I see this f***ing traitor still can't f***ing condemn it. What was brexit again?

They are. But equally those who continue to be funded by Russian money are a massive disgraceThe 11 MP's led by Corbyn are a f***ing disgrace, if we left the security of the world to the likes of them then God help us.
What’s in it for them to take it?Chernobyl is a funny one because it's an international effort to manage the site these days.
the immediate removal of Russia from SWIFT.
Easy for them to say when they know they'll be nowhere near the front line and will have a nice bunker to hide in. How many of them are on the books of weapons manufacturers I wonder...Cant believe some of those in the commons are implying military action………
Get fucked.Anyone get the feeling that Russia and China have been working on this for a while as part of a larger plan to topple the West? Covid potentially part of this plan too.
I've thought for a while that a China tilt at Taiwan would come round about the same time as Russia and Ukraine, hope I'm wrong.Anyone get the feeling that Russia and China have been working on this for a while as part of a larger plan to topple the West? Covid potentially part of this plan too.
