The "Boots on the ground" are soldiers mate. In their eyes they are doing their job. It's what they do. It's what I did as a serviceman. Do as you are f***ing told. They probably hate it as much as some of our lads that were in Iraq. They are probably thinking "what the fuck am I doing fighting this f***ing war, that has fuck all to do with me.
Its the Politicos that need stopping.
Cut the head off the snake mate.
Great idea but if foreign soldiers are coming to your town to kill anyone that dares to stand up to them, then the head of the snake is irrelevant and your only option is to try and kill the fuckers.

Do I think they want to be at war? No.

Do they bring war though? Yes.

If you would shed a tear for killing someone who would oppress you, who would kill you, or your family, then that’s fine.

I will not, however.

How did an individual soldier "bring war". You still haven't answered that. You have just homogenized an entire country into their caricature of evil. Yes, the soldier might kill me, but only because they are forced to by people more powerful than both of us. In the right circumstance, I could also be friends with those soldiers and their families. Equally, there are people in this country who would probably kill me if forced to, but by chance of fate or good luck, we speak the same language and are from the same piece of land so they are not compelled to.

Just following orders has never been a good defence

So that’s a no. If the Germans had invaded you wouldn’t celebrate their deaths?

Fuck me I’m glad you weren’t around in the 40s.
My mother was bombed out twice during the war, living close to the Tyne in Hebburn and obviously, like Sunderland it took a battering with the shipyards.
Her and my eldest sister were buried under the rubble of their kitchen one time and it certainly affected my sister who now at 80 odd still can barely use a lift.
But me Mum used to tell this tale of seeing a German airman parachuting out over Hebburn and him being caught in the floodlights and his face burnt and in just total fear.
She still talked of the look on that lads face decades later.

Some facts - Since the dissolution of the USSR, Russia had a large military / naval base in Crimea. In 2014, the US overthrew Ukraine's government, aiming to make Ukraine an outpost for NATO or NATO's interests, and to kick Russia out of Crimea, which is an exceedingly valuable strategic point on the Black Sea.
In response to the US-orchestrated coup, Crimea, which had tried to leave Ukraine and rejoin Russia for decades, lawfully chose to join Russia. And the heavily Russian-ethnic regions of Donetsk and Lugansk in eastern Ukraine declared their independences from Ukraine and also sought to join Russia (but Russia didn't accept them).
This infuriated the US and NATO, which then proceeded to funnel weapons into Ukraine and train Ukrainian troops and also Nazis, and encourage Ukraine to not stop trying to take Donetsk and Lugansk back by force. Years ago, Ukraine also signed the Minsk accords, under which Ukraine agreed to grant Donetsk and Lugansk autonomy within Ukraine. But Ukraine never upheld the agreement and continued to try to retake Donetsk and Lugansk by force.
After 8 years of Donetsk and Lugansk being brutalised by Ukraine, Russia decided it'd had enough and finally recognised the independence declarations of Donetsk and Lugansk, and agreed to protect them, from Ukraine's attacks.
As Russia moved forces into Donetsk and Lugansk a day or two ago, the shelling of those regions by Ukraine's army stopped for a while. That was the first calm those regions had had in years. But then, for who knows what reason, Ukraine started heavily shelling those regions again, and shelled them all last night and today. And this time, Russia's military was in those regions. In response, Russia had launched missile strikes and some other operations against Ukraine, taking out Ukraine's air defences and airforce, as well as other military targets.

I was never in the army, so you certainly know more than me. But my dad was, he was in Ireland and the Falklands. He always says what you say, you do as you're told. Working-class lads on both sides dying over pieces of land.
