Pakistan’s prime minister Imran Khan is the first leader to meet President Putin after Moscow attacked this morning, writes Shah Meer Baloch in Islamabad.

Khan arrived in Moscow yesterday on a two-day trip when tensions between Kyiv and Moscow were rising but Putin had not ordered a military attack on Ukraine.

Khan was given a guard of honour on his arrival in Moscow. On his arrival to Moscow, Khan said:

The opposition and experts raised concerns over the visit of Imran Khan, describing it as “ill-timed”. Michael Kugelman of the Wilson Center in the US said:

Khan was in Moscow when Kyiv witnessed military attacks. Indian media, such and a few more media networks shared fake news that PM Imran had ended his two-day visit to Moscow after the attack on Kyiv. Pakistan denied the news.

Adil Shahzeb, a Pakistani journalist from Moscow that both Russian and Pakistani officials have denied reports that Khan has ended the visit.

Pakistan and the US do not enjoy cordial relations and the US blames Pakistan for its dubious role in Afghanistan.

Husain Haqqani, former ambassador to the US and a scholar, told The Guardian:
Imran Khan has consistently signalled his derision for the US and the west while also seeking economic assistance. The timing of his visit to will only reaffirm his anti-Western worldview.
The image of Pakistan’s prime minister next to soon after Putin’s invasion of Ukraine will not endear Pakistan to Americans or western Europeans.

Nor India

I see men defending their country, actions have consequences war is hell as I’ve said before, not all of this army are conscripted they are happy to be part of an invading force.

Old saying live by the sword die by the sword

I won’t defend any Russian soldier whos contributing to this war

Have you served your country ?
I don’t need to have served my country to be appalled at people cheering on other humans being killed.

FFS man, they are fathers and sons with families doing the job they have been ordered to. I’m appalled at Putin but it doesn’t mean I want to see Russian soldiers lose their lives because of his lunacy any more than I want too see Ukrainians lose theirs.
But they haven't exactly brought their wives, children and grandmothers with them into the killing field.

No, we don’t. This is between Russia and Ukraine. Nothing to do with us whatsoever. Our moral obligation as human beings would be to support any civilians who are displaced by all of this.
So we should break our word, we made a deal with Ukraine and in return they disarmed there Nukes, we are dismissing our obligation because its a hard call, maybe we should have just left them with nukes and Putin maybe would have left them alone.

When do we draw the line, we waited too long with Hitler and it ended up much worse, sometimes you just have to stand up for what's right.

There is a fear in the back of people's minds that getting overly involved in this conflict could mean we incense the russians enough for them to fire missiles into cities like London. That is why we must have a unified approach so that putin knows the whole of europe jointly are against this illegal takeover.
At first there will be sanctions against putin and if this does not stop him europe and america must make the threat of military action.
We also have a humanitarian responsibility to take in hundreds of thousands of ukrainians.

Why?

You think the US and UK will sign up to defend Estonia? Lithuania? Hell, Lithuania already borders the world's largest Russian military base (sorry, "enclave").
We've had RAF air patrols rotating through the Baltic states for well over a decade

They would never do that.

It would be a city like Newcastle or Glasgow. Far enough away to make a point but not to so bad as to cripple part of the world economy.
