Putin trying to fix his legacy by restoring the old soviet empire before he snuffs it. Terrible for the people of Ukraine.

And now I'm truly terrified. Seeing the Ukrainian people fleeing has got me nigh on hysterical, this is a disgrace.Don't forget North Korea and Iran, and various states that now depend on China due to them.borrowing big sums of cash from the Chinese to improve their infrastructures.
Thankfully - and rather bizarrely - they are still members of NATO
My analogy is perfectly accurate. You're suggesting the entire world is set ablaze to fix a problem in one corner of it.No. Next step is to fix it. I even used the words ‘fix it’ in the last sentence of my post.
The difference is a boiler can be fixed without any risk of burning down the house. So your analogy doesn’t work. If risking burning down the house was the only way to fix a boiler, then your analogy would be more accurate. And I would take that risk and try and get the boiler fixed.
I'd like to think we have the SAS primed and ready to gan to Moscow.... One can only hopeI'd like to think that we have some American and UK ,Aussie special forces out there trying to disrupt any advance and aid ukraine
Who is we.Sorry mate I don't believe in wars for oil financial reasons etc ,but when innocent people in neighbouring countries are being killed and bombed by crazed dictators I believe we have a right to stand tall with those innocents ....no matter how big the enemy is ..
I meant to say " we may have ended with something more akin to democracy"I honestly don`t know. Maybe he thinks Ukraine joining is the final straw?? Like everybody else, I just wished it had never come to this but I think the West made a monumental mistake not bringing Russia into the fold when the Iron Curtain came down like they did with Germany at the end of WWII. If we had cooperated and worked together to rebuild Russia`s economy, we may not have ended with something more akin to a democracy, instead we gloated about the end of the Soviet empire and seemingly prodded them at every opportunity. It was a huge wasted opportunity and unfortunately we may be paying the consequences for it now.
thats something you wont seeWouldn’t mind seeing a handful of US/UK destroyers/aircraft carriers passing Istanbul on tonight’s news
There was no party, vaccinesBoris making a national speech at 5pm.
Unless he can convince NATO to push Russia back I don't care what he says.
It's now a matter of public record that Putin's appointment as successor to Yeltsin was approved by the CIA and he met Clinton before being installed. I think you're right to point to the 90s as the root of this problem and the mistaken belief that the world had succumbed to the power of liberal democracy - The End of History. It was already too late once Putin took over.
The opportunity to have friendly relations with Russia was at the end of the cold war.
We left them broken, poor and humiliated.
It's kind of like the difference, less extreme obviously, to how we treat Germany at the end of WW1 compared to the end of WW2.
The situation in Russia in the 90s meant it was somewhat inevitable that they would end up with some form of nationalist gangster regime, much like the situation in Germany at the end of WW1.
We should have done what we could to avoid that, much as we did with Germany after WW2.
The more you know. I just assumed they were. I guess Finland are fair game. Same question then, who next, Latvia?
What are RT saying about itThat was textbook Russian propaganda and misinformation. Textbook.
