Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Is it just me who thinks this will go bad for Russia very quickly?

He's racing against time.
If he gets the quick blitz, which is the approach he's gone for, it'll be hailed a massive success and back at home.

However, the longer it goes on, the more it becomes like Afghanistan and he'll lose support.

The good news is that the Ukrainian army aren't the Iraqi or Afghan army who rolled over at the first sight of trouble, these lot seem determined to stay and fight.

Alot of the analysts are saying whether Ukraine can hold Kharkiv will sway the tide - Kharkiv is not only Ukraine's 2nd biggest city but it's also dead in the middle between Kyiv and the people fighting the rebels which would latter sandwiched if it fell

I can genuinely see Putin being done in from within.

After this attack, all the global leaders SHOULD put heavy sanctions and specifically target the wealthy Russian businessmen they've been 'supporting' for the last countless years. Then offer them an agreement to them saying we won't withhold your funds in exchange for calling out Putin and getting all their oligarchy mates to denounce the invasion and put a price on Putin's head.

The last thing Russian gangsters want is for their money to be taken away from them and if they feel this is their best way to keep their money and possibly expand further.

All this it wouldn't happen if this person was in charge, or this person getting elected has managed to do what such and such couldn't is bollocks. The fact is there's been political unrest across Europe and America for almost a decade now, not one leader has covered themselves in glory. Squabbling in the EU, a rise in right wing politics in Eastern Europe, a dictatorship in Belarus, the B word, Macron running around doing his Neville Chamberlain act, the list goes on. All the while Putin has sat pretty planning this under their noses. The finger pointing is inevitable because each side will want to blame the other. The fact is they've all ignored this for years while they feather their own nest. Every single leader regardless of political persuasion should be ashamed of themselves.

One more thing this is also what happens when you allow a dictator to put his money into your economy and institutions, see the Saudi money currently inflecting our football as well.

Is it really parallel to Hitler back in the late 1930s?

Did Hitler have to deal with this level of resistance from countries when trying to initially invade & did Hitler face the backlash of the German people like Putin is with the Russian people?

Just trying to get a comparison of the two of them.

I agree - the only consistently strong leader throughout this has been Putin

We've had a host of Chamberlains - not just Macron

It's a day of shame for the West and the innocent people of Ukraine will pay the price

This is on Putin.

Yes, mistakes have been made by others. But the blame is squarely on Putin.

Poland etc will be next.

Then the nukes come out. Then we all die.

Poland are part of NATO so they're safe.

Moldova on the other hand are pretty fucked if Russia get that far. They already have a break-away state region of their own who consider themselves Russian despite how far away they are.
