So Ukraine will fall, Moldova will likely end up a client state of Russia like Belarus is … Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania are all NATO and EU nations, Which would surely be a red line. He wants a capitalist cronyist version of the USSR but what’s to say the mad man will stop there? Could want to go back to the tsarist empire so Poland, Finland … in his hit list. Surely though Russia will be suffering the post covid cost of living crisis the West is suffering? What appetite do his people have for full scale war? We all know Russian democracy is a rigged system but one thing every leader in the world fears is a peoples revolt.
 
Just listened to Zelensky's national speech... Pretty emotional stuff.

Said he rang Putin, he picked up, but never said a single word over the phone for over 10 minutes. Then he switches to Russian to speak to the Russian audience, asks Russians and Ukrainians not to hate each other. Says Ukraine will fight to the death.

The guy has done the best any leader could in the situation.

He tried to assure calm, he tried to seek peace, stood by his principles and refused to bow down.

He believed Russia wouldn't do it and it's understandable why, but ultimately that will be on Putin not him in the history books.

This is an unprovoked attack on Ukraine, a sovereign nation, openly, by another state.

A revolt needs leadership, most likely candidates are either outside country, in prison or have been eliminated
 
I cant see Putin winning this yes to take a country is easy by air, But by land Ukraine has some of the best weapons v anti tank and the body count will mount up fast.. So what will he do then?
 
Interfax (Russia's only non-state controlled media) saying Mariupol and Odessa to the South is already overtaken by sea.


Also saying Finland are ready to end their neutrality and join NATO because of tonight's events.
