Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Agree with that but if it isn’t the rollover he’s expecting it to be then the Russian public might have a change of opinion. It’s 2022 where I would imagine most 18-40 year olds wouldn’t want to be called up to go to war.

Posted yesterday that fundamentally there’s two schools of opinion in Russia and they're generational, put simply the oldies who pine after the good old days of USSR and the young guns who want a western lifestyle, Putin is playing the nostalgia card but it’ll turn eventually but I can’t say when

not a lot different to BREXIT actually
What makes you think us leaving or weaking the EU as you like to put it had any influence at all on his decision? It doesn't change a thing.

Might of changed the timing but he’s been hell bent on reestablishing the USSR for years

Vladimir Putin, wanting to get on the good side of voters, goes to visit a school in Moscow to have a chat with the kids.
He talks to them about how Russia is a powerful nation and how he wants the best for the people.

At the end of the talk, there is an opportunity for questions.
Little Sasha puts her hand up and says "I have two questions - Why did the Russians take Crimea? And why are we sending troops to Ukraine?
"Putin says "Good questions," but just as he is about to answer, the bell goes off and the kids go to lunch.

When they return to class, the kids sit back down and there is an opportunity for some more questions.
Another young girl, Misha, puts her hand up and says "I have four questions.
My Questions are - Why did the Russians invade Crimea? Why are we sending troops to Ukraine?
Why did the bell for lunch go off 20 minutes early? and where is Sasha?"

Personally I wished it had never collapsed. Loved the USSR when it existed.

Red Gauntlet is the one who has come nearest to blaming brexit for this shit show mind:D I knew there would be one of them try at some point.

Disturbing if true

It's enough to make you think he's a calculating old fuckwit.

Who can tell these things?

This extra help and supplies we're giving to Ukraine. Any ideas on the costs? I thought the defence budget was being cut.

500k armed citizens fighting for their home is a formidable force no matter what your weaponry is.

Be far more then that. That’s full and part time professional soldiers. They also have a 200k strong civil defence force. National guard. Police. And have just authorised all civilians to carry weapons.

As I say though sadly I think it’s just means Russia will take a far more aggressive action before entering built up areas

I'm old(er) now and closer to the grave but I'd happily start shooting at anyone who wanted to take my homeland away from me.

This could end very very badly.
